"Award winning pies", seriously? I went here for the first time today and had one of their so-called award winning pies, to be fair the pastry was very nice the flavour of the content was all so quite nice, however where was the meat! It was supposingly a chunky meat pie with minced beef, however it was pretty much just a gravy pie. There was a small skerrick of meat when I first bit into the pie then it was loaded full of gravy I was hoping after each bite that I was finally going to get some actual meat, then right towards the end when I was holding the last bit of crust there was a chunk of meat. I could have seriously put a straw into this pie and drank it. Thankfully I was heading into the hills passing by some actually good bakeries with really good pies as I was still hungry after this liquid pie, thankfully my second pie was exactly what I wanted, full of flavour full of chunky meat, absolutely delicious. The pie from this Banana Bogie was a fail. UPDATE: I purchased one of their vanilla slices a couple of weeks later and yes they were extremely good, however a few weeks later I tried one of their custard tarts, it was one of the worst custard tarts ever had in my life, the base was almost burnt and the custard was totally flavourless and textureless,, the $2 Foodland ones are better, this bakery seems to be very much a...

I went into Banana Boogaloo this morning really craving a hot, ready-to-eat quiche. That was the one thing I was after—but I was also open to grabbing a few other things while I was there. Unfortunately, there were no hot quiches available—only large, cold $17 ones in the fridge. When I asked if they had any smaller options, the staff member suggested I buy the large one and freeze the rest. I appreciated the effort, but it felt like I was being steered toward spending more on a product I didn’t come in for.

Furthermore she completely missed the point. I wasn’t after a frozen meal to prep later; I wanted something hot and ready now. If that’s what I wanted, I would’ve bought the big one and not asked if they had any smaller ones.

There were plenty of hot pies and pasties available, but no quiches at all—something I think is worth considering for the future. I ended up walking out without buying anything—not because the products weren’t good, but because the experience felt unnecessarily pressured and a bit disappointing. A few smaller, ready-to-go quiche options would...

This is your classic banger roll. At first glance, the sausage roll’s golden-brown exterior promises a delectable experience within. Its flaky pastry invites anticipation, hinting at the layers of delight that lie in wait. Each bite I take, the pastry crumbles with a satisfying crunch, leading the way to the heart of the culinary masterpiece.

The filling, a marriage of seasoned ground meat and aromatic herbs, offers a medley of flavors that dance upon the palate. The thoughtfully balanced spices harmonise seamlessly, resulting in a savory symphony that captivates the senses. The meat itself is tender and succulent, a testament to the craftsmanship that goes into its preparation.

What truly sets this sausage roll apart is the intricate interplay between the meat and the pastry. The pastry’s delicate flakiness enhances the richness of the filling, creating a dynamic contrast that is both comforting and indulgent. This harmony transforms the dish into a versatile delight suitable for anyone. Well done Banana Boogie Bakery. I can wait to try your third place...

These guys deserve top honours for their hot cross buns and vanilla slice. Seriously. They’ve nailed the balance that so many others miss. Nothing is overdone or overworked, just spot-on flavour and texture that makes every bite feel exactly how it should. The hot cross bun was spectacular, rich, soft, and spiced just right. The pistachio twist was an unexpected delight, and honestly, a must-try. And that vanilla slice? Perfection. The pastry had just the right crunch without falling apart, and the filling was smooth, not too sweet, and incredibly moreish. Each bite felt like the first, clean, structured, and satisfying. This place alone makes the trip to Adelaide worth it. We’re already planning to head back over the weekend. Also, shoutout to their pasty and sandwiches, flavourful, fresh, and best of all, they won’t cost you a mortgage. Proper value for quality eats. Truly impressed. Banana Boogie Bakery, you’ve won some serious fans.

Finally visited the award winning bakery for Vanilla Slices. We ordered 1 vanilla slice and 1 donut vanilla slice. The VS was quite nice. Pity same can't be said about the Donut Vanilla slice. I initially gave the donut a prod and found it quite cold so obviously has been refrigerated. I requested a knife and fork to aid eating the rather large serving. Unfortunately, the knife still could not cut through the dry, and I believe "old" donut. Quite inedible. The custard was ok and the icing was just sweet, too sweet. I wrapped it up and tossed it in your bin. 2 stars for the VS, no stars for the VS Donut, and no 5th star because the experience was just one big letdown. We can't imagine visiting again when far better bakeries are nearby.

On a getaway weekend in the hills I left the hotel on a rainy cold and windy morning to visit this bakery to get my hands on one of their famous vanilla slices. It was worth the trip. The bakery is easy to find with plenty if parking. The selection of baked goods is massive and staff are super efficient in servicing customers. I went for the original vanilla slice with icing and nor chocolate but couldn't resist to get a pain au chocolate as well. I had this as a second breakfast with a cup of tea back at my room and it was delicious. The vanilla slice is worth the attention too. The Pastry is light, the filling firm and the icing gives the sugar kick. A must stop in the Adelaide Hills!
