Captain Chicken & Seafood Pooraka — Restaurant in Adelaide

We recently discovered our favourite local rotisserie chicken shop had retired …well the owner did anyway

So our task was to find a replacement …we’d tried a few but weren’t that impressed until we came across this one

As chips were an important part of the rotisserie chook meal we thought as we’d ordered dinner from another place whilst waiting we’d try their chips 🤔

Much to our delight the chips were perfect

Cooked to perfection crispy crunchy hot chips …they were even crunchy by the time we’d got home …what little of our pre dinner snack was left anyway 😉

With such a lot on offer including salads all your usuals and fish, Gar Whiting and Barra, Hot Packs Seafood packs Steak sandwiches and Burgers …the list goes on and it IS extensive

We are certain to return to try plenty of other items on their menu

▪️Well as expected we returned

This time for chicken as well as their chips

A whole chicken ordered and sufficient chips a couple of extras were needed too …just to try

A couple dim sims and some potato fritters / cakes / scallops (to suit all those who can’t decide what to call them)

We got home plated up and made a little salad

We were suitably impressed with the chicken …plump moist and full of flavour …the stuffing complementing the chicken well

Our additions were cooked well and did not disappoint especially the potato …battered fresh to order

Once again the chips were superb and ample for our needs

Confirming our previous thoughts on finding a new and local takeaway Captain Chicken and Seafood is certainly a winner for us

▪️…and return again we did this time we thought although we were getting our now firm favourite of Chicken Chips and some sides we thought …hmm maybe we’d better try some fish they have on offer

So a piece of battered butterfish was the go

They also have Flake Garfish Whiting and Barramundi on offer in their seafood packs or just a piece of fish and you choose if anything is to be alongside it

By the time we got home to eat the fish was still had a lovely crisp and crunchy batter and not too either…and size wise the fish was just right 👍🏻

We grabbed a salad too this time as we didn’t have anything at home …they always look wonderfully fresh and we were not disappointed

Luscious creamy coleslaw perfect with chicken …and chips …and fish 😉

I’m sure we’ll be back again in a few weeks to try something else on their menu

With friendly and courteous staff / owners serving up quality and consistent food it’s hard to pass by

Once again they are a big winner on...

Best chips in Adelaide. I am a huge chip lover, Ive had chips from many places over the yrs and Colonel Sam's make the best. Which is great for us as we live just around the corner. Our kids are obsessed with the chips too! Can't pass up a 1/4 chicken and chips with gravy annnnnnd yiros (garlic) sauce. So good!! Love the dim sims and the kids adore the chicken nuggets. Oh, and a burger with the lot, very satisfying. Loaded with toppings, you couldn't ask for more. The staff are fantastic and they've never ever messed up an order.

Colonel Sam's is our favourite take-away!

I dont have anything negative to say about Colonel Sams so I'll ramble about how amazing it is instead.

I moved to Pooraka and started going to Colonel Sams not long after. I'm going to be moving to a different suburb soon, but that won't stop me coming back. I'd happily drive for an hour to just to get some tucker here.

Well priced, delicious, generous portions with little extras thrown in here and there thanks to the kind staff and generous owners. I love Colonel Sams. My go-to chip shop. Best takeaway in Adelaide. I've tried everything on the menu, never been...
