Chennai Palace Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Adelaide

We went on an impromptu mode to Chennai Palace for my wife's birthday - It was one of the best experiences in a long time and I am so thankful of the experience as it was a special day,

The ambience is great, as you get transcended to a traditional atmosphere and easy on eyes, great for pics.

The ebullience is more in the attitude than the energy - Everyone is so down to earth and the staff is so well behaved as well as respectful. We were served by Divya and a bespectacled girl, both were helpful and great to talk - The Manager was a gentleman who let me know the owner is the Chef himself.

That explains the foodgasm - it was just striking- We had the chicken platter which had the most succulent chicken with the spices really submerged in the crevices as needed - The kid and family loved the platter - The Dosa was great but incredible was the sambhar and the authetic chutney. Onion Uttapam was well cooked though otherwise it is a bland item usually for folks, I devoured it.

The special Tawa Fried Fish was a delight, not every place gets seafood right but CP does and how!!!

Last but not the least, even the Lassi was just out of the park as per kiddo and I complimented the girl who made it.

Lovely ambience, lovely food, it doesn't hurt paying when you get the best that lingers on...

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!! WAITED HALF AN HOUR FOR DRINKS, HOUR AND A HALF FOR OUR STARTERS AND THAT WAS ONLY AFTER REPEATEDLY CHASING UP STAFF! THE GUY BEHIND THE BAR SEEMED TOTALLY DISINTERESTED AND CAME ACROSS AS NOT CARING AT ALL WHEN IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT WE HAVE A DIABETIC THAT NEEDS SOMETHING TO EAT DUE TO HEALTH REASONS! MY FATHER DIDN'T GET HIS MAIN MEAL AND SOME SIDES WEREN'T PROVIDED. WE GOT A STARTER WE DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR BUT ATE IT AS WE WERE THAT HUNGRY AFTER WAITING SO LONG! NO CUTLERY OR PLATES PROVIDED AND WHEN THEY WERE THEY WERE LITERALLY TROWN AT US AND WE WERE TOLD TO TAKE CARE OF IT OURSELVES! I SUSPECT MANY OF THE GOOD REVIEWS ON HERE WERE PROVIDED BY FRIENDS, FAMILY AND STAFF OF THIS PLACE AS WHAT WE GOT WAS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE! OTHERS WERE COMPLAINING TOO OR LOOKING MISERABLE, INCLUDING MANY OF THEIR INDIAN PATRONS. DEFINITELY NOT COMING BACK AND ABSOLUTELY RUINED MOTHERS DAY FOR MY MUM! IF WE DIDN'T HAVE A DISABLED FAMILY MEMBER WE WOULD'VE DEFINITELY WALKED OUT! WAS LIKE AN EPISODE OF KITCHEN...

We had heard positive things about the food and were considering the venue for an upcoming function. However, our experience during the scheduled visit was disappointing. We had a 4:00pm appointment by the restaurant to view the venue, but no one was present to greet us. After waiting outside in unpleasant weather for 15minutes, we called the restaurant and were told to wait an additional 5–10 minutes. Unfortunately, no one arrived until we made a second call at 4:31pm.

Eventually, a staff member let us in and tried to help with our enquires regarding our function where she advised us to wait again for the manager. When the manager did arrive, the interaction was far from welcoming—there was no smile, no apology, and no willingness to assist with our inquiries properly.

Given the lack of professionalism and hospitality from the outset, we ultimately decided not to proceed. We didn’t feel confident entrusting our event to a place that began with such a discouraging first...
