Facts: (can be supported by CCTV if the establishment has some) 11/11/23 approx 9.20 am — ordered a peanut butter brownie and a blueberry cheesecake slice to go. Cheesecake slice cost $5. Girl at cashier told me to wait outside and the cake slice would be served to me there. She handed me the brownie though. (Understandable since they had customers who wanted to dine in and were taking their orders too.)
9.35am — went inside to follow up because I saw most of the customers before AND after me in the queue were already served and mine was just a measly cake slice.
9.40am — finally got the attention of one of the girls. Ironically, it was the same cashier who spotted me without the slice, whilst serving the other customers in the queue. She asked her colleagues what happened, and they said they had no idea there was even a cake slice order (!) Asked another colleague and the girl just gave me the already readily packed cake slice but it was not labelled so they never bothered to serve it to me all this time or even look for the customer who ordered it (!) Other girl said sorry but damage was done.
Damage: got late to my appointment and ruined my whole day schedule
Background story: Walked into the cafe to cheer myself up with their pastries before going to an important appointment. Had a nice experience before in this establishment with a friend so thought to drop by again. Never again! Instead of being perked up, I went out of that place feeling much worse.
I didn’t go in right away to follow up because I saw the place was packed and busy so noted that they may not entertain me right away. When I finally decided to follow up, it was because I wanted to cancel my cake slice order as I could see it was so busy they may not even have attended to it at all. But they actually did and just never served it to me, making me wait for 20mins outside.
Conclusion: there should be a system for people eating in the establishment and those ordering to go. There is a reason people order to go, and usually they are in a rush.
Side note: cake slice and brownie were ok if you were starving; were not memorable and trauma-inducing
In short, never support this business unless you want to kill time and...
Read moreIt's a hipster cafe with a focus on sustainability. Busy, well-loved but noisy - only stevia and raw sugar are offered as sweeteners, lots of vegan gluten-free and vegoetarian options.
Service: Excellent. Really, really good.
Food: Brilliant
Coffee: Very Nice
But here's my gripe:
They have 23 trendy looking old-tech light bulbs that use 40w each, for ambience. To be fair ONE of them was an LED based globe (current energy-saving technology). That's 880 Watts - equivalent to a microwave running ALL the time - being wasted. I think they should all be LEDs (~3W) given the state of the climate and their obvious commitment to sustainability. (Second pic is comparing the LED (R) with the filament globe (L)
Seems like an oversight for a place that's otherwise quite good in this respect: No plastic in here at all. And; My burger was...
Read moreI used to be quite envious of those living near Norwood, Unley, and other parts of Adelaide with good cafes. No more. Froth & Fodder is really a gem in Kurralta Park with great food, great coffee, and great service.
Their daily specials are also something to keep an eye on and look forward to. I have grown to appreciate chefs and cafes that can deliver creative daily specials that are somewhat intriguing and 'explorable', and yet familiar and appetising. The photo is one of their daily specials in early December ... Super Green Bowl: Grilled asparagus, sautéed spinach, mashed green peas, quinoa, poached eggs, basil hollandaise, toasted pine nuts with some smoked salmon.
Their menu items are also there if you are craving for...
