The young man that served us was polite and nice however we ordered take away and the food was disgusting. The fried rice tasted burnt, he honey chicken and sweet-and-sour pork was disgusting. The batter around the pork and chicken tasted very doughy like it was not fried properly. However it looked like burnt, very dark in colour. The sweet-and-sour pork, batter just crumbled and it did not look like a red sauce like normal. I have had to take away from this place many times and this was the worst ever and I refuse to go back. I rang the business and was told me to bring the food back and they would look at it upon arrival. I showed them what I meant, the owner/chef came out of the kitchen, asking what was wrong with it because it looked fine to her. I told her to taste it, which she refused, told her about the doughy taste to the batter and the soggy texture of the pork and the chicken and she blamed it on being a takeaway dish, I told her that I’ve never eaten in her restaurant only ever had take away, and I’ve never had an issue like this before. She refused to refund the rice but eventually refunded the chicken and the pork dishes. I will never go back to this restaurant. Her service was appalling and her food was absolutely disgusting. Definitely not happy with the service or food at Hill Top...

We stopped in on Saturday 21/7/21 for dinner. We order Uber from this place regularly but have never got around to dining in before. Have always loved our takeout but having the whole extensive menu to order from was a real treat. The Restaurant is simple but spotlessly clean and they have the best Covid protocols in place that I have seen in any restaurant thus far. We didn't have a booking but the friendly staff welcomed us and found us a table. It was then I realised the rest of the tables were full or reserved. That's always a good sign but after my meal I now know that it's probably because this is the best Vietnamese food in Adelaide. The food was amazing. All 3 courses of it and serving sizes are generous. The service was friendly and super efficient given that they were so incredibly busy on 3 fronts, dine in, takeout and delivery. I don't know how they manage it. It simply did not stop while we were there. To top off the experience, the bill at the end was more than reasonable. If you like Vietnamese food this place needs to be at the top of your list of...

We went for dinner last night, April 9th. We took a bottle, as we knew they had a small wine list. We were the only ones there (a few tables came in later), but they were very busy with take-aways. We had to ask for some wine glasses, and we weren't given an ice bucket. Luckily we'd brought it in a cooler bag. We ordered Vietnamese spring rolls, Basil Mussels, special fried rice, and Nem Nuong (grilled pork balls). The food was very good, the chilli (which we didn't expect) in the Mussels, just right. The portions were a good size, and not being big eaters, we brought half of it home. The menu is basically Chinese, with a few Vietnamese dishes. Nem Nuong is our sole reason for going. We were given one sauce, but asked for our favourite sauce, and it was duly supplied. Apart from the lack of attentiveness in relation to the BYO (good price @ $12), everything else was very good. A couple of nice wines...

So I go to many places to compare Bahn mi. Hill Top Vietnam Restaurant is on the cheaper side of the equation. $6.50 so I wasn't expecting the lot. But I was wrong. There was patte and mayo, pickled Daikin, carrot and cucumber. Unique to this place there was julienned spring onions and the roast pork was very juicy here. What I really liked was the daikon because it was cut to have frilly edges and it was so juicy when you bite into it. The chilli was very hot and there was a generous amount of coriander. The bread was also very good day old bread, crunchy on the outside and still soft on the inside. The meat was okay there was a few crunchy bits but it did taste a little burnt.

Unfortunately my recent order was highly disappointing. Prawn toast had absolutely zero prawn in it and was very dry. Ordered salt and pepper prawns as I am a big fan of salty food, unfortunately it was so salty that it was inedible, not to mention it was chicken and not actualy prawns that I ordered. Incredibly dry chicken on the inside. Satay chicken and fried rice was nice, only saviour in the order. The business should pay more attention to detail and ensure the food quality rises in order to keep customers.

I just got the plum duck takeaway, while waiting i saw the chef come out and he looked completely exhausted. Well i can see why he looked so exhausted, because he pours his heart and soul into the food he makes! Unfortunately I'm yet to visit Vietnam, but wow, he certainly brought an experience of Vietnam food to my mouth tonight 🙏 One of the best things I've ever eaten (had to take a pic after I had already eaten half since i dont take food pics) meal sizes are fantastic 😋
