We were pretty excited to try this place - somewhere which is not kintaro is a little uncommon in Adelaide. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed. First things, first - this is NOT japanese fare. You can tell by the myriad of dim sims, chinese dumplings, springs rolls and very little fish that goes past. When something looks like fish is approaching, be wary that it is not seafood extender. Yes, seafood extender/seafood stick/crab extender is made into a sushi here. There is very little fish btw. A lot of salmon and canned tuna (and seafood extender). Next, you have the pointed metal chopsticks that I have never seen any japanese restaurant. BTW you can also order bibimbap here.
The sushi itself is pretty shoddily made. Some of the seaweed is not even cut through and the sushi rolls are still connected together. The seaweed on the outside of the sushi also seems to stick together all the time to each other and they are never separated easily from each other This may be a sign of freshness or lack of mastery, I am not sure. The sushi also are prone to fall apart by themselves easily and the coatings on the outside of the sushi are haphazardly pushed on. You can just tell there isn't much care in making these.
The staff though seem friendly and the sushi seems reasonably cheap. But the lack of range and what you get is not particularly good quality means it is recommended to give this...

Visit 1, no sushi on the train complimented by no music for ambience. Really allowed my mind the quietness it needed to focus on the lack of sushi. However this was made up by decent table service and made to order sushi which was delicious.
Visit 2, this time there was sushi however only a few plates and a number of tables fighting over the minimal supply.
Visit 3, in the 15 minutes i spent here i could count the amount of plates that came past on my fingers. The staff refused to make eye contact with us stopping us from being able to place an order nor did they offer starter drinks. We had to go up to the counter to get the attention of the waiter who then went to the table where we met her to get the bill. We had a total of 3 plates for 3 people in 15 minutes.
From here we travelled 1 minute up the road to the Avoca hotel where we were met by friendly staff, quality food, good choice and cheap prices. 10/10 recommend the Avoca.
Tip, if you want to sell sushi actually have some sushi to buy. And encourage staff to serve your customers not avoid them and keep...

One of the best sushi restaurants in the state. I gotta admit that I go there for dinner at least once a week when I can. You canโt ask for ask for better for the prices, the super friendly crew and succulent taste!
They operated like a sushi train, with a conveyor belt going around in a circle with booths lined up beside it. As well as benched tables right next to it up at the front of the shop, with the top end having a centre where it is a workspace for the chef to prepare the sushi.
I would suggest if you are a couple to sit up that end to watch him make up the sushi dishes as he plates them up, ready for you to eat! If you want something that isnโt on the belt, you can always request something out of the menu rather it is sushi, ramen or hot dishes.
I would recommend to all to check out...
