Alright value for money!
When walking into the restaurant the place feels quite old and slightly rundown. The decor and surroundings are quite dark, lighting within the dining room is sucked up by the maroon carpeting.
Service was slightly under par. At times when going up to pick food out to be cooked by one of the chefs, there was no one attending the wok to prepare food. Waiters/waitresses were difficult to come by as they were often behind the counter in the adjacent dining room.
Cleanliness was sufficient, no scuffs, marks or any dirt/leftover food was found stuck to any tableware or cutlery. Tidiness of the smorgasbord area could be a little better with unused display-ware and tables sitting there.
As we sat, freshly baked bread was given to us before our meal. Food was pleasant for the price paid. At $22.50 per head for all-you-can-eat, average quality was expected of the food available, however it was a nice surprise with what was available. A range of thinly sliced meats and vegetables with sauces that you could mix to create your own flavours were presented. Included, a recipe sign/board above the sauces to help create certain flavours.
Overall for the price, I would recommend people that can make back their $ to dine for dinner. Nothing too fancy, nothing too casual. A good place for a group of...
Read moreOne of Adelaide's most unique dining experiences. For $22.50, you get a choice of four meats (pork, chicken, lamb or beef) plus your choice of various vegetables and sauces, which they then cook in front of you on a massive inverted wok.
Part of the experience of course is watching your food get cooked and given back to you sizzling and smelling terrific!
It's all you can eat so fantastic value for money at only $22.50. The food has that authentic "charcoal cooked" flavour which you just can't get at home cooking on a stove.
The things which held this restaurant back from me giving it the full FIVE stars are:
When we walked in and said we'd like the smorgasbord, the waitress just said "ok" and left us to it. She didn't explain to us to go up, get plates and help ourselves, so we waited around for several minutes expecting her to bring us plates but she never did.
The bread given to us before our meal was tasteless and without any butter or dips. Not exactly a good appetizer.
I wanted some rice and prawn crackers as a side dish, but the rice had been sitting out in the open for a while and was very hard and dry. I would've enjoyed the experience a lot more having fresh,...
Read moreI don’t usually put 1 star reviews on google but the amount of high reviews this restaurant has on google truly ruined my experience because I was so excited to eat. Started the night off with the broken door at the restaurant, took us 10 mins to get in. We sat down, and got up to choose our buffet items, buffet station was dirty and all the meats were mixed up… no wonder why people were getting sick.
The chef cooked it, he wasn’t very nice. After he cooked it, the stove stone made it smell really interesting, like it hadn’t been washed in a while. I sat down to eat and it was disgusting. The most flavour was in the pineapple I added. Don’t know why all the sauces look like diluted water too. The sesame bread pastry things were horrible, dry and had no flavour.
The best part of this night was the cold water they gave us. Apart from this everything was horrible. So excited all day for this buffet only to be disapointed. Hopefully this helps others, considering it was on glam adelaides reviews as well.
Oh and the buffet costs $28, which is cheap but you’re not getting your moneys worth because when you take your first bite you’ll...
