Our recent visit to Namaste Mate for a food tasting event turned out to be a delightful culinary experience. Located conveniently on Henley Beach Road, the restaurant boasts a spacious, well-laid-out dining area, ideal for both intimate gatherings and larger events.
We began with the Paneer Dosa, a standout dish elevated by their signature ginger-lime chutney—a revelation of zesty brightness balanced with subtle heat. The sambar accompanying it was gently spiced, steering clear of the overt tanginess often found elsewhere in Adelaide. The dosa itself was crisp, and the paneer filling was delicately seasoned, achieving a perfect harmony.
The Prawn Masala was the showstopper. Featuring impressively plump, fresh market-sourced prawns, the dish offered an exquisite depth of flavour, with a luscious masala base that was both aromatic and rich. The chef’s use of fresh seafood truly set this dish apart. We’re already eager to return for the Crispy Prawn Fry, one of their most popular offerings.
The Hyderabadi-style Goat Biryani delivered traditional spices with tender meat, while the Schezwan Noodles struck a fine balance—smoky, mildly piquant, and featuring perfectly caramelised onions. The Veg Manchurian, especially its umami-rich gravy, impressed us more than the Chilli Chicken.
Overall, Namaste Mate excels in nuanced, flavourful cuisine where spices are celebrated but never overwhelming. If you appreciate refined Indian-Chinese fusion with finesse, this is your spot. Warm thanks to the chef and manager for their hospitality—we’ll...

From the moment I stepped into this restaurant, I was greeted with warmth, rich aromas, and the unmistakable charm of Indian hospitality. The ambiance was beautifully set—soft lighting, traditional music, and intricate décor that transported me straight to the heart of India.
Every dish we tried was a celebration of flavour. The butter chicken was creamy and perfectly spiced, the biryani was aromatic with every grain of rice infused with flavour, and the garlic naan was fresh out of the tandoor, crispy yet soft. Their vegetarian options were just as incredible—the paneer tikka and dal makhani were standout dishes. Also Chittinadu chicken and fish curry was outstanding.
A special shoutout to Chef Jaswant, whose culinary expertise and masterful use of spices brought each dish to life. His passion and dedication to authentic Indian cuisine shine through in every bite.
What made the experience even more special was the impeccable service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and happy to make recommendations. You could feel their passion for food and culture in every interaction.
This restaurant isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to experience India through its cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Indian food or wants to explore something new and memorable.
Will make a habit to visit every Sunday
Thankyou...

First off, major kudos to the setup. The ambiance is spot on! I visited during the day, so I missed the full magic of the bottle wall, but I’ve seen photos and love the artistic vibe it brings.
The menu was a delightful tour across India. Being from South India, I was drawn to the Idlis. Soft, fluffy, and paired with a heavenly sambar. Oh, and the coconut chutney? - Chef's Kiss
Next, we jumped to the Indo-Chinese section (love the “From the Wok” title) and went for the Chilli Chicken. Perfect amount of spice I hoped for. I was also informed that they do a gravy version to pair with fried rice or naan. Definitely saving that tip for next time - along with crispy goat or baby corn
Now, the real surprise of the meal: the Gongura (aka Rozelle leaf – I had to Google it) Biryani. Never thought I'd see gongura and biryani in the same sentence, but WOW. This blend was like a Ratatouille moment where two flavours come together to create something unexpectedly amazing. Gongura pickle will never be the same again.
I skipped dessert but stole a bite of my friend’s gulab jamun tart – Should have definitely made space for this one
All in all, a lovely experience, great ambiance, and I’m already planning my next visit to dive deeper into the chef's specials (perhaps the signature 70mm Dosas) and more of that...
