First time here. My friends recommended we dine out here as they have been here a few times already.
The restaurant is positioned facing the beach. However, it's hard to notice them as they are not near to any other retail shops at the beach road. It's kind of funny because as you turned right driving from beach road to Esplanade, the first few buildings are actually residential houses. That kinda led me thinking... did i missed the restaurant, but as you drive farther down, there it is, 37 Esplanade.
The restaurant itself isn't big, but it can still sit about max 40 pax I think, judging from the amount of tables they have there. During our 2 hours there for dinner, the restaurant managed to fill up about 1/3 to nearing half the number of tables there.
Today we ordered Deep fried fish fillet with cream corn sauce, Mandarin pork chop, sizzling mongolian beef, curry chicken, and peking duck and special fried rice as the starch for the meal.
We didn't have to wait long for the food. While we were still chatting away, the food started arriving one after another. That's a plus. Now for the food tasting..
Among the six dishes I've mentioned, I like the Deep fried fish with cream corn sauce. Followed by the peking duck.. The duck itself is tasty, but because it's peking duck, there's only really a few pieces of meat. We should have ordered roast duck instead. The fried rice is rather good too. I will say the curry chicken is alright, even though it's not the type of curry that I'm hoping (think it's green curry), I'm not a fan of the mongolian beef and the mandarin pork chop. Really, I can't tell the difference between those two dish, as the sauce taste similar, and the texture of the meat felt similar as well. All the dishes though are good in the sense that they aren't too salty or sweet. So when we finished all the rice, we can still eat the meat dishes on its own.
To be honest, there's a few yays and a couple of nays. And while there's not a 3.5 star available for rating, 4 star is still acceptable for the overall value, taste and...

Deserted inside on a Saturday night, probably due to inclement weather outside. Cheap tacky outdated decor and vandalised windows, Don't expect a 5 star venue but not the worst I've ever seen, had a certain cosyness about it. Grubby menu books however.
Menu - basic Chinese options akin to a shopping centre food court. Some Chinese beer available but limited drink options.
Meal - A bit stingy on the prawn crackers. Entree was battered octopus tentacles like rubber , gave our chompers a good workout. Accompanied with crispy noodles that tasted like burnt pan scrapings. Could not eat it.
Mains were better - black bean beef and ginger fish. Quite generous on the meat compared to some Chinese places. Beef was your average takeaway fare, not too bad. Fish was cheap basa fish I think, quite a nice sauce. Steamed rice was ok, not overly generous serve but standard for most Chinese joints.
Service - friendly waitress attentive to our needs. Food came out quickly, but so it should as place was empty.
Overall despite the beautiful view Ocean Garden is a local suburban takeaway with a dining room, don't expect a...
Read moreOn many many previous occasions we have ordered delivery via uber eats from this restaurant and always had no issues and great food, until today! We ordered at 5.50pm for a dinner delivery we ordered our usual ammount of around $60-$70 worth we were told our food would arrive around 6:20-6:30pm. At 6:50pm we checked on our order via the Uber eats app only to find our order had been cancelled by restaurant if we didnt check we wouldn't of known as there was no other form of notifications or contact. A little bit confused by this we contacted the restaurant directly only to be told the were too busy to fulfill our order??? After trying to blame everything else except themselves. It is CLEARLY obvious that they cancelled the order because they couldn't handle thier work load and we were the easiest to get rid of.
This has to be some of the worst customer service we have come across not only did they fail too take responsibility for this they lied and tried to blame others for their own lack professionalism. It's makes no difference how good your food is there are people who value good service. If they can not achieve basic customer service it makes you wonder how highly they value the rest of thier...
