Poor, not recommended! After contacting the High Lander and speaking with a Reception Staff member, he advised me that he had only only one room left available! I immediately advised him that I would take it and would be driven (due to being on Crutches after the Hospital Procedures!!) to his location also immediately! Upon arriving at the Hotel and meeting him at the Reception Desk, he advised that the only room available was a Delux room! Being a Pensioner I advised that the cost may possibly be out of my reach! He advised that he would then charge the "Standard rate"! I was most thankful and appreciative of this offer and immediately advised him that as a result of the offer, I would be happy to book the room for three nights and possibly a fourth as I had stay in Adelaide while waiting for Hospital Test results from the RAH! He advised yes okay and he would place a reserve on the room for the fourth and final night! I thanked him gratefully as it certainly lessened the worry with the waiting for the Hospital test results! Two days later after returning from nearest Coles Supermarket to purchase food items, I was surprised being unable to re-enter my room! After contacting Reception I was somewhat shocked to be advised that my room booking was for two nights only and I had to pack up and vacate! I informed them that my booking was actually for three nights with a reserve for a fourth while waiting for the Hospital test results! I was hastily advised "no" the booking record on their Computer was for two nights! Again I explained the Hospital results situation and requested could I please re-book the room! The response was a firm, cold and uncaring "no" and they had booked it out to someone else! Needless to say, I was shocked and dumbfounded! I requested could they please check with the Reception person whom made my booking! Apparently that person lied to the Hotel Management saying he didn't or couldn't remember making my booking as discussed!! I then commenced making very many phone calls to numerous other Hotels & Motels around Adelaide only to find everything was booked out due to the Adelaide 500 Race meeting shortly to commence! After further conversation and pleading with High Lander Hotel Reception Staff, somehow another room was suddenly found to be available!! Funny that! The suddenly available room was a Standard and after waiting for a number of hours, my belongings were transferred to it. I requested to book for the second and final night as the Hospital results would be received by then however was told again "no"! With no other accommodation available, I was left with no other option and was despairingly forced to leave Adelaide without the Test results and take the 330 kilometres journey back home! Never again will I book accommodation at this hotel! Visitors or travellers...

Unfortunately I can't say we had the best experience when we've been to this place. It was a very quiet day, with just two or three tables occupied. We decided to sit outside, at the smoking area, since both me and my partner are smokers. After a few beers, we decided to order some food. The girl behind the counter asked us where we were sitting, and as I said we were outside, she said that they didn't serve food at the smoking area. From my understanding, they were concerned with us having food around people smoking, so I said, we were both smokers we wouldn't mind having our food out there. The girl then turn around to another staff member (which I assumed was her manager), who nod his head positively, then she agreed. Some time after that, it was brought to us some garlic bread (part of the order), as expected. A few minutes later, one of the staff members brought our pizza. The staff also informed us we were not allowed to have our food out there. I said we have already spoken to the manager previously and since we're fine to have our food out there, they agreed in serving us there. The staff left our food at the table and went back inside. A minute or two after that, a man, who informed us, was the manager came to us to inform the same thing. At that stage, we're both starting to become quite uncomfortable, since from our understanding, we were not doing anything wrong. He informed us as well that the reason for them not to serve us out there, was because it was against the law. We informed him that, we already had enough and that we would like to take out food away and go. The manager went back inside, and came back with a box, which he simply threw on the table.
I think the main reason of our frustration was not the fact that we couldn't have the food outside, since that's the law and we understand the hotel has to comply with it, but the fact that none of the staff members was able to tell us that before and we were not aware of it as well. There's no signage outside to make consumers aware of it as well. So after having our table all set up by the hotel staff members and being waiting for quite some time for our food to get served, we are informed that we have to move to a different area of the restaurant became so much trouble that we thought for good just to leave the place.
Not that it will make any difference for the hotel, but I don't think we're coming back there any time soon, neither recommending it to...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Highlander Hotel , booked a room, and attended a function and I have to say, it was a complete disappointment. The staff were incredibly rude and dismissive, and seemed to have no motivation or kindness whatsoever.||From the moment I walked in, I felt unwelcome. The kitchen staff appeared generally inconvenienced when dropping off a birthday cake earlier in the day. Check in with the manager was about as warm and inviting as a frozen tundra. I potted cactus has more personality and warmth as middle management.||At the 70th birthday event, the bar staff were absurdly disrespectful. They acted as if the guests were interrupting their private pity party of a terrible work culture and career choices, yet united in their distain to actually have to work for their money. When asked by a guest why one of the bar staff was in such a "bad mood" she responded "I've just worked a 12-hour shift." She didn't respond well to the criticism and proceeded to have a room full of 60+year old guests kicked out by her wishful security suitor. And let's not fail to mention when the same staff member went out of her way to ensure all obstacles were put in place to access water for a disabled guests water bottle as a little "F U" for inconveniencing her on a 12-hour shift. Admittedly, it must have been quite tiring holding up her eyelashes. Perhaps the immense amount of eyelash glue became overwhelming and affected her ability to carry out the duties of her role as a customer service employee.||There was not one guest who didn't disagree the venue was lacking in kindness, warmth, and motivation for customer service. Any future consideration of hosting future events there are officially...
