Isley's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Bairnsdale

Just moved to Bairnsdale tried this place for fish and chips. The fish was more expensive than Melbourne 1/4 of the size and they didn't know how to grill a piece of fish. Didn't get what i asked and paid for. The same order in melb costs $30 this cost $48 i nearly fainted. The guy serving me was about as friendly as a wet blanket didn't even look at me while taking my order. It was the most disgusting meal i have ever eaten threw most of it away. The potato cakes and other food was oily and revolting. The fish was just tasteless. I got more than the minimum serving of chips and it still didn't feed 3 average people. Ordered fish, chips, lamb souvlaki and chicken burger Took 35 minutes too be ready. Which was strange because there were only 5 customers at the time.

Lamb souvlaki was terrible. Lamb was cut too finely and was reheated. Also the onion and tomato was cooked (should be raw). I didn't get the garlic sauce, but still there was some bad tasting sauce added, which made it very soggy.

The chicken burger was very soggy and the chicken was over cooked. Clearly the person cooking on the grill does not know what they are doing.

Was a bit sceptical coming here based on reviews but limted on options so gave it a try. It was Good friday so could of been hit or miss. Well I have to say that it was some of the best fish and chip we have had in a long time, everything was hot and the fish was a big portion that was juicy with a light, super crispy batter.
