Bottomless Pizza, Pasta & Cocktail Night
I’m not usually one to leave reviews, but I feel this one is needed. I understand that things don’t always go to plan, but this experience went far beyond that.
The night was advertised as bottomless cocktails and food — but free-flowing cocktails were practically non-existent.
Our booking was from 6:00–7:30 for a table of five. We started by ordering five drinks (one each, not being greedy). After 20 minutes, only three arrived. The other two eventually came but were not what we ordered — and to make it worse, the already small glasses were barely a quarter full. So essentially, a 20-minute wait for a mouthful of drink.
At 6:30 we placed our food order. The pizza was fine, but nothing special and certainly not fresh, woodfired quality as you might expect. At the same time, we ordered another round of drinks. Knowing how slow the service was, we ordered two each.
By this stage, disappointment had well and truly set in. Drinks arrived randomly — sometimes only 3 out of 5 — leaving some of us with nothing in front of us at all, while other tables were either in the same boat or double- and triple-parked. When drinks did arrive, they were often the wrong order. One round in particular was completely undrinkable — one of our group described it as “toilet cleaner,” and I can’t disagree.
What made it even worse was the fact there were only 17 people in the whole room. It wasn’t like they were dealing with a full house of 50 customers. With such a small number of guests, there’s no excuse for drinks to take 20+ minutes or to consistently be wrong.
Looking around the room, it was clear we weren’t the only ones frustrated. Staff behind the counter seemed distracted and disorganised, with many patrons left embarrassed at how poorly managed the whole event was.
The low point of the night, however, was when a picture frame (apparently only stuck on with double-sided tape) fell off the wall and hit a guest in the back of the head. When this was raised with the owner, he laughed it off. Even after being told it struck a paying customer, he continued to laugh and casually asked if she was okay. She was fine — but the lack of concern was unprofessional and incredibly disappointing.
Out of five guests at our table: Two people were served only two drinks each, plus the undrinkable “toilet cleaner.” The other three managed 3–4 drinks each, again including the undrinkable round.
For an event that was supposed to be “bottomless,” this was an absolute flop. If it’s ever hosted again, I would strongly recommend steering clear. In fact, I’d steer clear altogether.
Would love to see DF's Food & Coffee Eastwood throw a night like this. Not only would it be better managed, better staffed, better food, the cocktails would be free flowing and bottomless. Would highly recommend DF's Food & Coffee Eastwood or Phoenix Cafe if you ever in need of...
Read morehorrible service! i had placed an online order as i work across the road and was going to run over once my order said ready to collect, after waiting 25 minutes, i walked over as i assumed they must’ve have forgot to press ‘ready to collect’ (as i had only ordered two drinks and thought it shouldn’t take that long) then i when i asked if my order was ready or how much longer i would have to wait - they told me that they don’t make up online pick up orders until i come to the store and that they prioritise “people actually waiting”. when i asked why the man said “it’ll be 5 minutes” along with an attitude and an eye roll. i then said for my inconvenience can you run it across the road when my order is ready and i got a blunt “no.” ( why have an online ordering system if you won’t make it without me having to be there - i had already paid the $18 for 2 drinks and waited 25 mins) and then when i said to cancel the order, a man said “i can cancel it but you’re not getting your money back” even though they had not even made my order so they wouldn’t be wasting products/time. i ended up giving in and said i would be back in 5 minutes and when i got back he rudely gave them to me and gave a me a rude look. i just can’t understand why they have an online ordering system if they won’t make the order without you having to be there and why is it that when i ask why they get snappy and rude - and saying that they prioritise people who are actually waiting, like i wasn’t waiting for 25 mins for them to say it’s...
Read moreWent for dinner with family. Earliest booking available on opentable was 6.45 even though the venue is open much earlier. When we arrived, there were only 2 other tables full, yet we were seated at a table right next to one of them! Only one more group came in after us and they were seated next to the other full table. It made no sense! Lots of space and empty tables yet we're seated closer than 1.5m to strangers. Ordered chips for my son. They were forgotten. All the adults received their meals and I had to remind the staff about the chips, then wait for them to be cooked. By then, my son was hungry and grumpy and started acting up. My husband ordered a medium well steak but it was cooked very rare. My meal was delicious, as was the cocktail I ordered, but unfortunately I couldn't fully enjoy them because of all the issues I've described above.
I can't reply to the owner, so I'm editing to add: My husband told the waitress that the steak was too rare and she said she'd let the kitchen know. He ate it because it was still ok, but just nowhere near as good as it would have been had it been cooked medium as requested. We waited for an extra ten minutes for the chips after receiving the adult meals. Since it only takes about 4 mins to deep fry some chips, it was clear that they'd been forgotten until I reminded the staff member. Good restaurants bring kids their meals first because they know kids start to act up if they have to wait too long. As I originally stated, my meal...
