Every now and then you put something into your mouth that is so good, it makes you want to sit down and give it your complete and undivided attention. Honorbread’s Kardemummabullar ($5) did just that: it was the best cardamom scroll I have ever eaten. Actually I ate two just to be sure... I picked up the first one up in Southlands Fruit and Vegetables in Moruya, then drove to the bakery in Bermagui just to eat it again.

This perfect pastry kicks off with a big hit of aromatic spice that, as you tear into it, gives way to a pillowy centre so soft you’ll want to nestle inside. For the sake of completeness, I also tried a cinnamon bun ($6.50) which was great, but not as great as the almighty Kardemummabullar. It’s worth taking the coast road through Bermagui just to eat it. The popular bakery (they finish when they sell out) also stock a range of great products from Pepe Saya butter to StrangeLove sodas, including the clever lime & jalapeño, which would be great as as a...

Clearly a local favourite and for good reason. We waited in a long line to order coffee, which gave us ample opportunity to admire the rows and rows of delicious baked goods on display. If you choose a takeaway coffee, you have the option of bringing your own cup or purchasing a re-useable cup for $3. We chose to dine in and sat at the long community-style picnic tables provided in the adjoining courtyard. On Saturday morning there is a small local market where you can purchase fresh produce, beautiful flower posies, jams etc. There is even a bee hive down the back of the courtyard. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and our coffees! We’ll be back when next...

Honorbread is the single greatest bought lunch I've had, the breckfast pides are a masterpiece that would make willy wonka envious with every type of breakfast desire met by a single open pide. Pesto in just the quantity to tickle your taste buds, sweet caramelized onion if you fancy a bite of palate cleanser, a single creamy egg yolk with no egg white to take away from the soft perfect sesame-covered bread. Brought together with bacon and just the right amount of crisp ovened cheese. If you ever near Bermagui an absolute must. Grab a loaf or a roll, you...

Dec-21: tried the tiberkes (Danish poppy seed answer to the French almond croissant) and the tahini scroll. Both too notch, staying in Tathra at the moment and considering a detour back to Bermagui for the tiberkes, it's awesome. Dec-20: The best bakery in Australia and probably top decile in the world. The country loaf was so good we sourced them from the IGA in Narooma (where we were staying that night) so we could take away on our trip back to Sydney. Unbelievable croissants. Honorbread is the best thing about Bermagui.

Unique flavours of pastry rare to find elsewhere. Tried their tahini scroll and almond pastry - so fresh, buttery, crisp on outside yet SO moist n soft (bready) on the inside. See photos. I could eat a million more and was absolutely stunned on first bite. Small con- they could add more filling in their pastries (to add flavour , taste, sweetness, bite) Will b back to try every other pastry and bread loaves. Nothing similar in sydney. You. Must. Try.
