I had an absolutely appalling experience at this pub today. Weāve been dining here for close to 15 years, but after today, we wonāt be returning.
I found a dead bug under my chips, a hygiene issue and when I calmly raised it with the manager, Tim, I was met with immediate rudeness, defensiveness, and zero accountability.
As we were leaving, Tim continued to be condescending and downright mean. Instead of apologizing or taking the matter seriously, he became argumentative and disrespectful. He even lied and accused me of being aggressive which is completely false and frankly insulting. I never once raised my voice, and I certainly didnāt ask for a refund. I was simply expecting basic decency and acknowledgment of a serious issue with the food.
To make matters worse, he did all of this in front of our children & friends who came for the LWE to visit us which was so embarrassing and disappointing.
Timās behavior wasnāt that of a professional manager, instead, it was defensive, disrespectful, and completely lacking in basic customer service or decency- all done in front of other patrons and other staff who watched on.
This experience was not only upsetting it was appalling. The meals were in fact great ( as they always are) but this incident was an incredibly disheartening way to be treated.
As a family we are very shaken by Timās actions and will not recommend The Star to anyone or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAThe Star exists as an enduring busy 'local', catering with traditional pub meals and the basic beer, wine and spirits selections. The safest meals remain the roast, Snitz and Parmi's. Surf-n-Turf is a hit-and-miss as are the pastas and Asian dishes. The dining experience is varied with both indoor and outdoor seating available. If you're looking for some peace and quiet, the rear dining area immediately beside the kitchen, is preferred. But outside has big screen TV's with a wide variety of sports on offer and a pleasant overflowing feel to Star Road. But there is no table service. You need to order and pay at the Kitchen and then wait for your meal to arrive. If you are so inclined, there is a modest-sized gaming room (around about 12-15 machines which are happy to gobble up your money). But one should be mindful that this place, like so many country pubs, can become 'feral' later in the evening as the locals fill up on copious amounts of alcohol (especially over the weekends). If there is such a thing, the safer option may be to arrive around 5:30pm and leave before 8:30pm. Love or hate the Star Hotel, it remains an enduring venue especially for the locals, which has been a part of the Bright cultural identity for many years now and doesn't look like changing...
Ā Ā Ā Read morei come to eat and drink here every now and again and have been for quite a few years.
however my last experience the other week confirms i will NOT be returning.
first off when me and a few friends went to order our food we were met with complete rudeness. i get understand that when itās busy you can be under pressure but itās not an excuse to be foul with a customer.
after that we went to our table but then realised that we had no menus, me and another went up to get menus as well as drinks. again the chick at the counter gave us dirty looks and told my mate he was annoying when all he did was get a few menus, like seriously whatās so bad about grabbing menus? (the staff at the bar however were super cool)
when our food finally arrived, the young fella bringing the dishes purposely THREW our food on the table even spilling some chips off of a plate not even cleaning it up but instead stormed off.
honestly id understand if we were giving them a hard time but even then itās not an excuse to make things worse, but here we were being patient and understanding with the staff yet this happened.
i still love the food and beverages here i will say but will not be returning for a long time...
