This is an outstanding pub bistro that works well on every level, from fine food, to a cool, laid back and relaxed ambience to efficient and polite service, ample parking and clean toilets.

There are multiple dining areas, including the outdoor beer garden, which is ideal for spring, summer or early autumn. Plus there’s an indoor Spanish Garden restaurant which is probably the place I’d choose during winter. The Sun night that we dined, was a warm and balmy autumn evening, so it was ideal for alfresco-style beer garden dining.

This place is always busy, so it’s advisable to book ahead. And, as you would expect, the vibe is energetic, lively and fun. Everyone has a smile on their face here as it's the kind of bright, happy and upbeat place you'll enjoy spending a few hours at.

And you’ll know that you’re in capable hands from the moment you arrive at the front desk to claim your table. When we arrived, it was manned by two helpful, friendly and polite young staffers. For first timers to the B.C. Hotel, these guys will explain the drill to you and show you to your table. If you ask, they may even give you a relic from a past era: a paper MENU! Fancy that. But seriously, we didn't need one, as we are now quite familiar with app ordering and how to link our Monty’s Rewards card to the app, to get our reward points and the generous 5% discount off the bill.

Once you’ve ordered, it doesn't take long for the drinks and food to arrive. Despite the crowds, this place hums like a well oiled machine. These guys don’t miss a beat, and it’s all done with a professional demeanour and a nice smile. What a pleasure. The staff are a credit to the A.L.H. Group, to which this hotel belongs.

Prices are reasonable considering the Weimar Republic-style hyperinflationary crisis we’re now enduring. I had a schooner of my fave super crisp Great Northern Lager for only 7 pesos, a pot of VB for the same price and my wife had an aperol spritz for 15. For food we choose lamb sausages with peas and mash for 28 and a nachos plate for 17. Both dishes were nicely presented to the table on stylish crockery. Serving sizes were generous and they scored highly on taste, flavour and texture.

Of course, no restaurant, no matter how good, will get 5 stars from me unless they have those two vital ingredients that elevate them to that lofty height: i.e. ample, clean and well signposted toilets and easy parking. And on both these counts the B.C. did well. The toilets could probably be a bit better signposted, but they are clean and well provisioned, with ample male and female cubicles. There’s a huge parking area in front of the hotel and they sure need it. We arrived early to find it almost full, but luckily someone pulled out, giving a convenient spot right outside the hotel.

Altogether, a thoroughly pleasant and enjoyable experience, for our first time at the B.C., and I’m sure it won’t...

This was the second time I've hosted this event at TBCH and from arriving 45 mins early to set things up for the evening, I could tell it was a bad choice of venues. The Creek might be okay for small groups, but when you're hosting an event for 50 people, they simply were not up to the task. I was told there would be 5 rows of tables, to seat 10 ppl per table. Instead, there were 2 tables to seat 10, the other tables were spread around in the area - 2, 3 and 4 ppl to a table. I ended up asking guests to help me move tables around to make up the configuration that the Creek said would be in place. They encourage you to use the QR code on the table to order your meals - you enter your first and last name, credit card details and pay for it through the app or online. Yet when your meal arrives, NO NAME ATTACHED!!! How hard is it to attach the name of the person who ordered it, to the meal before bringing it out...??? Some meals were actually placed on the table with no owner. When one of my guests returned it to staff, they didn't know what to do with it. Some people waited 1 and a half hours for their meals... a couple didn't even receive their meals at all!!! I didn't see one staff member over the age of 30. At a guess, the collective experience of the people behind the bar was less than 10 years, yet they are left to service the general public and an event of 50 people. I felt the overall service was very poor indeed.

This is a yearly event that I organise myself, simply to bring old colleagues and friends together, to enjoy each others company for an evening. I could have booked this as 'an event', but that required me to make a $2,000 deposit. I don't imagine many people have that kind of money to spare.

There was 1 good thing The Creek did for me - that was allowing me to store the 3 tiered cake with them, hours before the event. But when I asked them for a knife to cut the cake, I think I ordered that too late also. I ended up cutting the cake with the steak knives they had...

Disappointing Experience at Breakfast Creek Hotel

I recently had dinner at the Breakfast Creek Hotel, and unfortunately, the overall experience left much to be desired. Our visit took place on a Saturday night, just after 7 pm, and the issues began with the seating arrangements in the Garden Bar.

Upon entering, we were instructed to find a table anywhere in the Garden Bar. However, our efforts to locate a suitable table for our group of six were hindered by the fact that nearly every available table had a reserved sign on it. We managed to secure a table after spotting one where customers were about to leave, only to discover later that it had quickly been marked as reserved after being cleared.

This tactic, presumably to limit new customers from dining after 7pm, was frustrating and seemed to prioritise reservations over accommodating walk-in patrons. This significantly impacted our dining experience, leaving a negative impression from the start.

Moving on to the menu, we were surprised to find that the prices for pub meals were quite high. Given the cost, we expected a higher level of service. Unfortunately, the staff appeared indifferent, lacking the expected friendliness and enthusiasm. A welcoming atmosphere and attentive service are crucial elements, especially when customers are paying a premium for their meals.

To add to the disappointment, we overheard a fellow diner complaining about rats under her table. This raised serious concerns about the cleanliness of the establishment. A dining experience should be enjoyable, but this incident added a layer of discomfort and unease.

In conclusion, the Breakfast Creek Hotel fell short of our expectations in terms of service, pricing, and cleanliness. Considering the overall experience, including the rat incident and the high cost of meals, I regret to say that I won't be returning to this establishment. It's my hope that the management addresses these issues to ensure a more pleasant experience for...

The Breakfast Creek Hotel located at 2 Kingsford Smith Drive at Albion is a French Renaissance style hotel with 5 bars including a Rum Bar, Steak House & Beer Garden. Some of the highlights of this establishment is that it has Bar games, wonderful Cocktails, live sports & live music, it also has great bar foods available. The Breakfast Creek Hotel has Wheelchair Accessibility Car parking, Wheelchair Accessibility entrances, Wheelchair seating & toilets are also on-site. My wife & I had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent hotel this morning, enjoying a great cup of coffee from the coffee, dessert & pastry bar. We then stayed for lunch to enjoy one of the hotels famous rump steaks that was so tender & cooked to what we ordered. The Idaho potato & sour cream, along with the fresh salad made the meal taste even more delicious! We were more than impressed with the cleanliness of this establishment & the wonderful Customer service that was provided by the staff at the Breakfast Creek Hotel. The Breakfast Creek Hotel dates back to the 1889 & has been through 2 World Wars, numerous flooding, but has always stood the test of time. One of the traditional things that people visiting the Breakfast Creek Hotel is to try a "Beer on the wood", you will not be disappointed. This establishment is one of the major attractions in Brisbane & is also a fantastic meeting place for anyone wanting to enjoy the a great selection of fine wines, spirits & wonderful craft beers & beer on tap. We can't wait to go back again in the very near future to once again enjoy a wonderful meal & a beer on the wood.
