We booked, and paid for well in advance, a 2-hour boy's birthday party for eight people, with three sessions on the field.
Upon arrival we were told "two of the headsets don't work so only six people can play at a time". We were left with no choice but to sit out two boys for each session. We were offered, and accepted, a fourth session so everyone still got three turns. However: that delivered a completely different experience for everyone vs all eight boys playing each session together - both for the boys who did play a given session but were missing two friends, and for the two who sat out and were left with nothing to do except watch six of their friends walk around a room with VR headsets on; it added an extra half hour to the total playing time, and so to try to fit everything into a similar time frame we had to rush to keep each break in play to just a couple of minutes - not ideal for a kids' party where the boys naturally want to socialise and chat after each game; and unsurprisingly, despite the rushing around, we still finished about 15 minutes late.
In my view it is exceptionally poor business practice (1) to have no spare headsets, (2) to not warn us about the two broken headsets beforehand, and (3) to not at the time offer us even a partial refund.
To his credit the employee who was there - who was not the owner - was very pleasant and apologetic.
Subsequently the owner reached out to us to apologise for what had occurred, and offer a complimentary session of 2 games for 4 pax, an offer we appreciated and accepted. When we attended, the same employee was there and he was again very pleasant and helpful.
Hopefully our birthday party experience was a one-off which has been a learning experience for a business that we've otherwise had good experiences with. (The birthday party was not our first visit, and despite it, we will most likely...
Read moreMy husband, Hugh, and I came here with our family—Justin Yamama, Anita Yamama, and my gay son, Caleb—for a fun VR gaming session. It’s a bit tucked away in a semi-industrial neighborhood, but once inside, it’s a pretty cool setup.
The staff member walked us through how to use the VR headset and gun, which was helpful, and the game itself was a blast—though I’ll admit, we played on beginner mode, and it still felt pretty difficult! I can’t even imagine what the harder levels must be like. (Caleb told me it’s because I’m a n00b, which I’ll take as a compliment.)
However, the customer service left a lot to be desired. When our game ended, the staff member didn’t seem to notice—he was too busy watching football on his phone. He eventually collected our equipment and put everything away while we gathered our things, but when we thanked him, we got zero response—not once, but twice.
A fun VR experience, but the lack of engagement from staff was a little odd, if not outright rude. If you’re after a good game and don’t mind a bit of indifference from the staff, it’s worth a visit. Just don’t expect any warm...
Read moreThis was such fun! Check out my video for a spoiler of the zombie game.
My two mates and I did the zombie scenario. The lady who set us up - Geordie (Jordie?) - was an absolute jet. Set-up took several minutes as it includes equipment usage and OHS. The zombie game itself is basic yet challenging. Be aware that you will face virtual steps and gradients but just walk 'through' them and you will go 'up'. Also, there are two sections which may trigger those like me with a niggling fear of heights.
It's 30 minutes but bc it's fun and fast, it goes quick. I sure did get sweaty and burnt off the whole pizza I ate at Brewdog 30 minutes earlier. I did take it seriously so my sweatiness reflects that. You can play it chill too I reckon.
The venue is good, clean, safe. The only reservation I had was the price because it's effectively $60. I still paid and I still enjoyed but yeh we all mentioned it afterwards. Regardless, a good time and...
