Our stay at the Brighton Hotel was abysmal at best. We stayed in room 2 on the ground floor over the Christmas period. The room is old, dusty and gross. The carpet and curtains have most certainly seen better days. The queen bed was quite literally concaving in the middle, which made for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep and a sore back. I was seriously questioning if the blankets and ensemble skirting had been washed as it looked like there were some sort of bodily fluids smeared on them from the previous guest - Yuck! The window has no fly screen and it does not lock. You can easily just slide it open from the inside or outside. We did not feel safe keeping our valuable belongings in there while we were gone.
The shower was mouldy and dirty, with a leaky shower head. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom and no ventilation. Your towels do not dry and the mirror fogs up for hours after every shower. The toilet paper is like what you’d find in a shopping centre restroom - those huge industrial 1 ply rolls.
We stayed a week and the room did not get serviced. I called and asked for clean towels once during our stay and the woman who delivered them seemed as though it was an inconvenience to her because she had “just walked in the door”. Sure I get that, but her attitude was poor.
There was also an issue with our booking as were were booked in for 1 day short of what we required - a simple miscommunication over the phone. I received a call from a man, who asked me why my stuff was still in the room as we were expected to have checked out. This man was pretty rude and I didn’t appreciate his tone with me. The issue was rectified and we were able to stay another night - much to our reluctance.
This hotel (motel) is like something out of an American trailer park trash movie. It really...
Read moreThe place has had a beautiful upgrade. The environment is spot on, the facilities for kids have improved and it's busy and lively which is good to see ..... BUT $27 for a bowl of fettuccine covered with mushroom soup (literally that's what it was) is not a carbonara or anything close to a fresh authentic dish and no meat in it either. It was so overpriced for what you got. It is a tavern that is charging high end restaurant prices for their really mediocre food. They need to state that the chicken tenders on the kids menu are not crumbed too. All five kids at our table who had this as their choice left the chicken because it was so bland, dry and unappealing. Had we known it wasn't crumbed we would have definitely opted for the safety of chicken nuggets and chips. We have been to other places where an ice cream and a drink is included in the price of the kids meals, these are charged extra here. The place is stunning and the efforts have been noted for sure but if you want to charge high end prices, you need to walk the walk with the food. It's just an overpriced tavern pretending to be a high end restaurant serving really average pub food with a playground? We wanted to love the place and make it a regular thing but this dining experience missed the mark for our...
Read moreVisited Brighton Hotel for the first time with my family tonight as it was highly recommended by my sister. I had placed an order through the QR code for a rump steak and triple choc brownie at 6:45pm. The steak came in a timely manner and I was so pleased with it I even brought one for take away to give for my Dad which also arrived in a timely matter yet I still hadn't recieved my dessert. I notified a waitress that we were still waiting on dessert 40 mins later and she assured me that the desserts were the only orders on screen and that the team were "making it from scratch". 15+ mins had passed, other desserts were given out to customers and we still hadn't recieved ours. By this time our plates had been cleared, I was getting impatient and we were ready to leave. I notified another waitress that we still hadn't recieved our desserts and we finally recieved them at 7:59pm. I'm not sure if this is the standard process/wait time for dessert since they are "made from scratch" but a heads up or a check in by staff early on would have been greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, although the dessert was pretty good, the wait time for it and lack of care really ruined my first impression which is reflected in...
