A friend and I were using the esplanade as part of training for a charity walk in late November. By the time we were passing Brighton, my mate started to complain of chaffing and would need to apply some ointment. As it was evening and fairly quiet, and as there were no toilets, my mate decided to pop down to a small bit of sand. He was mostly out of sight and was standing with his back to the walkway, his arms were by his side and he seemed to be moving discretely, then without warning his elbow started moving up and down frantically, like if he was sawing a piece of 4x2. No one saw apart from me and it would have looked pretty dodgy if they did. I let out a huge laugh, which started him laughing and the whole thing devolved from there. In short, a great place for a laugh but beware of men who complain about...

If you can't make it to Redcliffe, and prefer to hang around Doug's famous eaterie, this is the place for you! Great for walks, scooting and there is a decent beach and pier. Ok the water isn't sparkling blue and the sand golden, but the kids honestly don't care and love it! I would also recommend you check windspeed before you go. We live about 20 mins inland where it was completely still. The onshore wind was blowing a gale! It was actually unpleasant. Parking can be busy, especially if you drive down to that lower beach parking. Don't bother and just park on the street if...

Love to walk along the foreshore with the open grass areas and lots of shady trees. There are usually lots of people, dogs being walked and kite sufers to watch. The water at high tide is clean and clear and at low tide, extensive mud flats great for exercising dogs. There are several excellent fish a chip shops, a coffee a cake cafe, and an icecream a gelato shop. In the beautiful weather we are currently having, it is a great place to visit. In hot weather there is a swimming pool with a small waterslide in the kids pool. Great place to visit any...

Wonderful esplanade to spend an afternoon or evening sauntering around the promenade The main section is calling lovers walk as it was intended to be Dovers walk after the town council engineer but some enterprising post cars makers covered up the D making it an L! There’s picnic spot s and shelter sheds ! It suits all ages Lovely way to spend the afternoon or morning Today being a public holiday is super popular so you might have trouble finding a park but you can go down a side street

Such a beautiful place to exercise and get some fresh air and sunshine at the same time! Can get busy during weekends and public holidays but it's great seeing families out enjoying themselves! One downside and reason I cannot give 5 stars...owners of dogs not picking up after they have done a number 2! Clearly a number of owners don't think this applies to them, which is a real shame because walking in that on your way is not nice! 😕 Otherwise a great place to visit 😊

This beach is perfect for walking your on leash dog. At high tide, the water is about shin height and calm so perfect for dogs that are a little jumpy about water like my dog! At low tide, the water recedes and leaves small pools of water that is perfect for dogs to splash in. Usually there is lots of parking at the surf life club or on the street but is busier at high tide or during the school holidays.
