Went for lunch on Saturday 23rd April at appoximately 2:15pm. Firstly, my son noticed his thick shake was very runny, more like a frappe. Mentioned it staff who advised they now put only 1 scoop of icecream in instead of two. No change to price though!! Coffee is made on long life milk and tastes awful, guest couldn't drink her latte because of the milk. I really needed my flat white coffee but really struggled to drink it. I asked for it to be extra hot and it was warm and was made worse by the milk taste. I asked for it to be microwaved for a few seconds, but staff said they couldn't enter the kitchen to do so. Burger was okay and barramundi was very nice but the hot chips were recooked to heat up so virtually stale and brown. My husband had fish and chips only. Fish was fine but the plate was covered in these brown stale chips. All in all, we will not be going back. Perhaps not reducing icecream in frappe and adding a few cents would be a better idea. Get rid of the long life milk because it tastes awful when heated and add just a couple of cents for real milk, especially for the taste and to help the struggling farmers. Cook the chips fresh, as they only take a few minutes since they are so thin. Too late for us, but the cafe might salvage its business if a broom goes through it. In order to be able to post a review, you have to rate the service so I have had to put 1 star. Wronggggg!!!...
Read moreWhile the food was not necessarily awful, it lacked any level of worth insofar as offering a memorable experience. Cafe 63 is beautiful, homely and welcoming - and that's where its charm ends. The staff were not impolite, but they were disinterested in addressing the needs of their clientele - and the eggs Benedict with salmon was about as appetising as soggy boot leather with from the jar hollandaise.
When asking for an ice chocolate, I was first served a bitter and luke-warm "ice" coffee and only after both myself and my companion clarified I had asked for an ice chocolate did I receive my room temperature glass of milk, barely there chocolate sauce and bland whipped cream with a dollop of plain ice cream. The mood following my meal was not dissimilar to a funeral, which is accurate as this was the death of my faith in quaint cafe locations.
When paying, the supervisor saw to our bill with the enthusiasm of a scientist at a festival celebrating a flat earth. All in all, Cafe 63 is a beautiful flower hiding a dreary interior - one that I certainly have no intention of shadowing my dining experience with again in the...
Read moreCoffee is generally okay but nothing to write home about. Menu is plentiful as with all Cafe 63’s and food is okay. Depending where you sit it sometimes feels like you’re a bit close to the main road. Dog friendly but only some areas of the cafe are practice for a dog. Staff seems to be incredibly overworked and orders have been stuffed up a few times or drinks forgotten. I’ve seen some of the staff there early in the morning and still there much later in the day. Anecdotally there seems to be some dodgy employment practices here which is one of the main reasons we won’t be going back. Allergies beware: We had eaten there 4 or so times and confirmed that a certain couple of meals were gluten free and had been told yes by waitress each visit. 5th visit we ordered the same meal, asked for it gluten free, more thorough waitress this time went to check with kitchen to find out no way that was it gluten free, couldn’t be made gluten free...
