Iâve heard a lot about Karwan restaurant and tried it out, and wasnât more happy. The menu at Karwan offered a delightful selection of Afghan dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors. We started with Mantu, delicate steamed dumplings filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with a tangy yogurt sauce and a sprinkle of dried mint. The combination of textures and flavors was exquisite, setting a high standard for the rest of the meal.
For the main course, we enjoyed their signature Kabuli Pulao, a fragrant rice dish adorned with tender chunks of lamb, sweetened carrots, and raisins. The lamb was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and infused with aromatic spices that left a lasting impression. We also tried Chapli Kebabs, spiced ground meat patties grilled to juicy perfection, served with a side of fresh salad and naan bread.
Throughout the meal, the service at Karwan was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes. The presentation of each dish was elegant and thoughtful, reflecting the care and passion of the kitchen.
In conclusion, Karwan Restaurant stands out not only for its delicious Afghan cuisine but also for its welcoming ambiance and impeccable service. It's a hidden gem that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to experience authentic Afghan flavors in a cozy and inviting setting. I look forward to returning to Karwan to explore more of their menu and indulge in their culinary...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. I came here after reading good reviews, but my experience was the opposite. The food was tasteless and of poor quality. The staff were rude and unprofessional â one even told me not to come to their restaurant again! Iâve never experienced such behavior in any dining place. Definitely not worth visiting.
There is no option for the reply Here Iâm responding for your reply
I appreciate your response, but your version of events is not accurate. Yes, we arrived late due to unavoidable circumstances, but we were still seated â and that was never the issue. The main problem was the poor food quality and the unprofessional behavior of staff, which I stand by.
Regarding the Kabuli Pallow, finishing a plate does not mean it tasted good â we had ordered multiple dishes and shared, and wasting food is not my habit. Calling my feedback âmisleadingâ is unfair.
On the matter of lamb shanks, we simply asked if it was possible to order them Ă la carte, as many restaurants are flexible with such requests. It was not an âinsistenceâ but a question.
As for staff conduct, being told by your own staff to ânot come back againâ is not what any professional restaurant should consider respectful service.
This review reflects my genuine experience, which unfortunately was far from the positive image you claim. I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to improve, rather than dismissing...
Read moreI have been to Karwan Afghan Restaurant 3 times so far. The first two times, I went on my own and the 3rd time I took a group of 8 business colleagues (comically referred to in the review of G Frost below).
It was initially somewhat perplexing that the restaurant was located in Boondall given that a large part of the Afghan community live on the south side of Brisbane.
The food has consistently been excellent, well presented, tasty, and without fault. The service has always been extremely friendly, caring, and commensurate for a quaint restaurant. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
I will be taking a group of Afghan friends that have never been to it soon and can confidently say this is one of the best Afghan restaurants in Brisbane.
Regardless if it was me on my own, or with a large group of people, the experience has been excellent. I will make it a fortnightly visit from now on.
To highlight the review of G Frost, it may have gone unnoticed to him/her that in fact the loud group of 9 people were helping the single person serving (who was the owner of the restaurant if he/she cared to ask) in moving plates around and tidying up out of respect. It is bookings like that which supports small business on a week night and we will continue to support this...
