GOLDEN BAMBOO CHINESE RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Brisbane City

DO NOT VISIT UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT AT LEAST 3X LONGER THAN THEY SAY FOR FOOD!

Went to get food here for the first time last night, was really excited, the menu looked great and reasonably priced, and we were so hungry.

Got to the restaurant at 6:45pm and a medium table of around 6 people had just arrived before us as well as there being two small tables already seated. We ordered our food to take away before the new table had ordered and were told, because of the new guests, there would be around a 20 minute wait for food, which was fine.

We walked around local shops and came back 25 minutes later. Only to then be waiting for another 40 MINUTES before our food was ready without getting any explanation or acknowledgment.

I would HATE to know how long it would have taken if it was ACTUALLY BUSY!!

When we finally got our food the lady on the register apologised and said she had given us a free sweet and sour dipping sauce. There were 2 of us eating, and I had already paid an extra dollar to get an extra sauce on top of the one included (the sauce I paid $1 for turned out to be thimble sized so that was a waste of money) Why we then needed a free third sauce on top of that is beyond me.

Got the food home and it was average at best, definately not worth $50 and over an hour it took to make!

Huge wait no communication about the wait or how long it will be, only one of three tables in the restaurant total one table (4) people, table of (3) and a table of (2). Other table asked nicely how much longer as if is more then 10 minutes they will need to walk as the wait has been huge, customers were falling asleep waiting. Owner come from kitchen and yelled from the back of the restaurant to the front, "coming now if you want to walk, walk". Customer was so offended and walked, said never been spoken to this way ever before. Sad because had just finished speaking highly of the how good the food is and been eating here for years. So rude considering everyone was already waiting a considerable amount of time coming close to an hour. No communication nor free drink while you wait to say sorry, nothing but being ignored and rudeness to a simple request to how much longer. A tip good customer service, serve the customers who are sitting in your restaurant waiting and not let them sit and watch orders go past them, that are all for phone orders. Asked staff a question and had to go to follow them up for the answer after they walked past us twice. I had not been here for a year or so. It was a good place to eat and I wrote a very good review last time I went. Unfortunately I won't be returning. The food and service was very disappointing. The king prawns were not king prawns, instead frozen crumbed small prawns similar to what is purchased at Aldi. The fried rice now has chopped spam or devon meat in it instead of ham.

The 100 flower chicken dish could very well have been processed chicken with a coleslaw dressing on top. Other dishes were lacking taste and quality ingredient. The steamed rice was gluggy.

We waited an hour for main meals while takeaway orders left. We were never asked whether we wanted an additional drink nor was house water with glasses brought to our table until we asked. Two staff members walked around the restaurant and we were the only 6 people in the restaurant yet they still did not provide us with service. After 50 mins of waiting we asked how long until our food would arrive and then were told soon to then wait another...
