We live on the peninsula an unfortunately we are very limited in culinary options. We often branch out to try an find delightful, fresh and authentic cuisine. We used google and found this Indo Restaurant at Clayfield and couldn't believe our good fortune. We have enjoyed fantastic Indo food across Australia and Indonesia. This little place on Sandgate Road is up there with the best of them. The menu is descriptive and provides many options. We feasted on several different entrees enjoying the Chicken WIng's which where fresh tasty and certainly cooked to perfection, the Ayam Satay sticks and the satay sauce was excellent, and the Bakso Prawn & Pork Dumpling Soup was prepared with care and fresh. The list goes on, we shared the Beef Rendang with Sweet potato as a main with hand made ROTI, the beef was braised to the point it was falling apart on the fork, the slivers of sweet potato enhanced the flavour's and the Rendang sauce was obviously cooked and made in house. Will and his family who prepare the food and operate this little place of joy need to be congratulated. They are inviting and friendly which is reflected in their food and...

Mamaku is a beautiful family owned restaurant with a gorgeous atmosphere that feels like someone's home. The owner and staff are all lovely people, and the service is great.

The food was absolutely delicious! We had the rendang sapi beef curry with coconut rice and it was delicious! The beef fell apart and the curry fragrant. It tasted similar to massaman beef curry, except much more spiced/fragrant and more coconuty flavoured. I'd 1000% recommend ordering it. We also had the mie Goreng with chicken and vegetables. I'd also recommend that dish, it was super delicious and a great side to have with the curry. The only thing I'd want to change/do when I come back here is ask for more vegetables in my mie Goreng and I think the curry would taste great with carrot (so I'd probs ask for carrot haha). But those are all personal choices.

Great portion sizes as well! I hope everyone come checks this place out, especially because it was my first Indonesian food experience. And I'm not sure how I'll top it now that I've had it 🤣 you guys set a...

Visited this joint with my fam a couple of days ago. Food was rather average. Nothing special. Ordered a few main dishes. Ordered a prawn dish with veggies. Had more veggies than prawns. Also, prawns used were frozen packet ones rather than fresh ones. The prawns tasted and looked very much like the packet frozen prawns you get from the supermarket. A disappointing pricey dish. However, the vegetarian fried rice was nice. The other dishes were so-so. Also found prices on the menu a little on the chubby side. Frankly, the price does not reflect the standard or quality. The servings were on the lean side. Kids were still hungry after walloping 5 mains. I thought the food would be better. Service was fast and atmosphere was quiet, because there was nobody there except us. The restaurant is small, so does give you a cosy feeling. Also, restaurant hard to spot from the main road. They have a tiny signboard, almost obscure from view. I drove past it and had to do a u-ey. Don't think we will be...

If this is what you call Indo food, it’s for the average bogan Aus. I took my Indonesian wife out for a lovely meal & was so disappointed / embarrassed. Yes we are both foodies & great cooks. For entre Tempe & Crispy tofu, Tempe was not golden colour we had to ask for some peanut sauce which consisted of crushed peanuts, no flavour. We had to ask for some sambal as it was not given with meal, Tofu was not crispy and not golden colour and was silken stead of firm Oily taste again no flavour. Main, Beef Rendang , looked and tasted like beef soup with sweet potatoe ( wrong )again No Flavour, wonton soup tasted like dishwater. Rice was terrific with my wine. Be aware this is nowhere near authentic. Price is not reasonable as other comments made. $82 for this ambarasing night out. Service was ok & meal came out as expected however no time in between entre and main course.

We were greeted by our gracious host and seated promptly. Cold water was offered and we ordered the siu mai, the eggplant and prawn in special chili sauce (a must try dish, according to the menu) and the combination fried noodles. Our friendly chef came to check on the spiciness level for our eggplant dish, and it came out with a perfect level of spice and flavour. We had the lemon iced teas to drink, the sweetness and flavour of the jasmine tea balanced the meal perfectly. The food was delicious and fresh, the service was friendly and warm, and the atmosphere was bright and welcoming. Thank you Mamaku, we will be back for the laksa and rendang, as suggested by our talented and gracious chef.
