Drive from the southside to try this place as I have heard good things. Stepped into the restaurant and was almost shoo-ed out for accidentally bringing our half drunk cups of takeaway coffee we had at our previous destination. Ok sorry maybe could have said it in a nicer way. Had the nasi lemak 3/10. The sambal was pathetic if you can even call that nasi lemak sambal. And the amount was also so little we didn't have enough to finish the bland tasting supposedly fragrant rice and no egg in nasi lemak?! CKT was better. 8/10 a little soggy but good enough have tasted better. Laksa was creamy but tasteless. 5/10. We politely asked for a little bit of cut chilli with soy sauce. Was told you didn't have it. Fine. Was told if we wanted extra sambal come in and pay $1. Wow. Also when ordering CKT asked us how many eggs we wanted. Thought it was an odd question. Was told if we wanted one extra egg it was $2.50. no thanks. Portions were smaller than usual. The girl that served us really doesnt like her job and is probably costing you customers: drove back to southside disappointed and won't be coming back. My wife is from JB and can honestly make a better tasting authentic sambal for nasi lemak.

Pretty solid lunch spot, OK vibes w good food. Dont expect truly authentic Malaysian food, as they claim themselves they dont do that. Proven by the VERY bold claim on the front of their menu haha. The Bah Kut Teh was super awesome. I'm from Klang where BKT is from, and this isnt definitively better or worse in comparison, just different. My friend got the nasi lemak (no photo) which she greatly enjoyed. It looked like very little sambal on the plate, but if you mix it through its spicy and flavorful. You can always ask for more, and they even sell it in a jar. Not sure why the Char Kuey Teow has peas, but it tasted nice otherwise. Someone at another table ordered the roti canai and it looked super flakey and like the real deal. They also had Durian D24 gelato made with real Malaysian durian!! Highlight of my day. You're not getting fresh durian here in Australia, but you can get the next best thing. Their other gelato was a bit weird tasting, like they didnt use chocolate that was so good. Service was friendly and accomodating. I'd come here with friends again.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, mainly because of the link with Taste of Penang. Tried their CKT last night and it did not disappoint, very similar to ToP's famous CKT and it has to be one of the top CKTs in Brisbane for me. I tried the premium version though, not sure if the basic one is as good or not, plenty of wok hei, bean sprouts are juicy, fresh and crunchy, the extra egg did give it another layer of tastiness, prawns are fresh and generous, would have preferred the KT a bit firmer, but that's my personal preference. Would be happier if the price is friendlier 😅

PLEASE NOTE- I am being harrased from the owners after posting the following review, no responsibility for the poor service, using slanderous untrue statements in their reply, other customer's complaining, dilusional saying I demanded larger pieces of chicken after my last call, ahhh hello, that was not the call, I asked about portion sizes, shame on them for threatening me and lying saying I am harrassing them, accused me of bullying for offering an honest opinion, it is the opposite, i am being harrased, as I am telling it how it is. Very sad to see the owners have to lie and claim harrassment when customers are entitled to their view. Just shows the inability to take responsibility, ownership and having to lie and play victim....shame on you, keep lying if that makes you feel better. I am sorry for you and your dishonesty. You know the truth! Since I reported legal action they are back peddling, its so sad to see blatant lies and not taking owenership. Its like they want to fight and in denial so sad. Previous email:I provided honest feedback to this restaurant they responded with slander on their response and an inaccurate account of my first experience with an order where I was mislead by a staff member who was confusing and difficult to understand on the phone, then on a second order they said I abused them about the portion sizes where all I did was ask (after deciding to give them a second chance I asked about portion sizes on the call. I advised in my feedback I had a party of 50 coming for New Years Eve where I was advised by the restaurant I was lying and being dishonest as I had only ordered one meal in the past and given a life ban. Omg I'm still laughing about that, who cares, never had a life ban so we are all having a laugh imposed by an arrogant owner. What restaurant does that! All the professional establishments we are use to dealing with come to a resolve, not the arrogant manner these people have conducted themselves in, so thanks for the laughs!! The last post they accused me of smelling of alcohol, which I probably did, after I attended the funeral of my Mother that afternoon and had been at a wake grieving my loss, sorry for drinking to ease the pain!! I have NEVER had a restaurant that doesn't care about the business they lose and can't take accountabily. Look at the review from a patron that were told they were unable to have half filled coffee that they bought to the restuarant being advised "Observe the signs....".Who does that?? The attack on me and defaming me in the way they did and not taking accountability for their issue with my first order is a disgrace. I called late after the funeral on that day, was confused with the person who was difficult to understand on the phone, who tried to upsize my order and when I complained about the order was told, " It's clear on the menu". I gave feedback, was honest and again have never had a restaurant treat me in this manner and judge me. If this restaurant chooses to defame me after this review I will be seeking legal representation for defamation...all they had to do was accept responsibility and a resolve, but to slander a customer and judge them is unacceptable. If I was that drunk and out of control then they should have refused me service and not taken my money!!!;They were also smug enough to hope a happier life for me in their response...well I have a great life but maybe when they lose a family member they should have this thrown back at them! Arrogant and rude and have much to learn in business. To All that have lost a family member where your behavior may be reactive and a little out of character, I am sorry for your loss and may God be with you:) oh and the restaurant just messaged my saying I wanted bigger pieces of chicken, delusional, accused me of bullying!! Lol and they know I asked about portion...

BEWARE!! CHECK REVIEWS AND DATES, ONE RECENT, OTHERS DATES BACK 10 MONTH TO 1 YEAR WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE NOT A SUCCESSFUL RESTUARANT!! Owner is rude and belligeren!! Staff dificult to understand!! I went to this restuarant over a year ago. Posted a review and got a scathing attack from the owner. I ordered a dish I and was disappointed in the portion size and made a complaint. The owner responded with an attack that I smelt of alcohol when I visited to pick up the meal and then posted this to try and humiliate me! Wow big deal I had a wine before I turned up on them closing. I see by his response to some negative reviews that he can't take any criticism and is always on the defense which is probably why when I walk past every night afrer work and the restuarant is deserted yet Bongs Dunburi next door is packed ( great food there by the way). The attitude of the rude staff, poor reviews and an arrogant owner is obviously reaping what they deserve. At a friend's insistence quite some time ago I called to order when I was advised I was banned from the restuarant! Lmao!! as if i care, we got a better meal elsewhere and better value for money:) They can't even get staff as a sign advertising for staff has been sitting outside the restuarant for probably 1 year now. It's such a shame to see such arrogance from an average, overpriced " food shop" in an area like this. I do wish them the best for 2025 as God knows they need it. I dont see reviews flooding in weekly like our local restaurants. Greed and arrogance is not a way to make an impact and a number of us locals are suprised they are still operating. Get ready for the respons people as i can't wait to see what rubbish the owner posts about me and I wil be happy to respond:) PS check the reviews, how many...

Edit: the team reached out and did better the second time. Extra star for their commitment.

Sorry to be the first 3-star review, but thought it's important to share my experience with other diners.

summary: long wait, bad experience and average food.

I went to Plan K Kitchen with a group of friends (10 ppl). Once arrived, we were told that they are fully booked and so there will be extensive wait for the food. They were also expecting another large group 15 min later, so we should order quickly. In addition, we were told to order either Nasi Lamek or Laksa for fastest turnaround.

So I ordered 2 Nasi Lamek and 2 roti for the kids. At the end, it took over 1 hour before my food arrived. In addition, there is at least 30 min difference between foods arrived for my friends (they ordered Laksa) and mine. By the time my food has arrived, they have long finished theirs.

One of the reason we noticed is that the place was severely under-staffs, with only 2 people in total to cater fro 3 large groups. The number of diners were way over their capacity. We would have appreciated it if they simply don't take our booking, or at least let us know when we book.

The food was okay - I've had better malaysian food around Brisbane. Portion was small for the price. Coffee was nice, but won't be in a hurry to return...
