I'm always busy and end up ordering take away every day because I have so little time. Over time I must have tried almost every food place in Burnie and I've come to the following conclusion: Secret Buddha Cafe is the best by a large margin.
I say this for a many reasons. Often with these food places you may find an item you like but the next time you order it you'll receive something that's made poorly and tastes disgusting. Some of the best food places kill their potential because they lack consistency. Secret Buddha Cafe has never done that to me. Not once.
Then there is the care for the menu itself. Everything seems to be put together with an insane level of quality. For example, picture a typical burger at a food place. Quite often you'll get sad, discoloured greens in the burger that are soft and look half-dead. As if the act of ticking boxes to make the burger is all that's required. But at secret buddha everything looks fresh and crispy.
Finally, I've found that it's common for food places to offer many items but only do well on a few of them. At secret buddha they nail every single dish every time. Who ever is running this place must really know food. I have discovered many items on their menu I didn't think I'd enjoy yet they're all exceptional. It's hard for me to recommend a dish from this place as I seem to enjoy...

We came here after a gal at The Chapel in town suggested it and we are so glad to have found this what feels like a secret garden cafe.
The parking is flat and just off the road. The cafe is a super short stroll from the parking along the paved driveway.
Inside there are lots of tables both inside and outside depending on your mood. It was a bit fresh today and we chose outside and were delighted to see the sun’s rays shine through and highlight the plants around us.
We chose to go with the American hamburger which had a thick beef patty, the saucy pulled pork tacos (3 per serving), both plates came warm and the food hot with a side of delicious potato salad.
We were tipped off about how great their coffee was so clearly we had to add them in - my husband had a nice cappuccino and I opted for the dirty hippie, a combo of chai and espresso that I haven’t had in years out. Their desserts were callimg, and although I honestly felt I was overdoing it by ordering more, The brownie looked too good to pass up today. It had a nice slightly crisp top with a side of cream and it felt so indulgent!
Overall the staff were friendly in a perfectly casual way like you would be with friends which suited the garden scene.
Lovely atmosphere, yummy food, great coffee. I’m sure we’ll...
Read moreUnfortunately my review is not so good. I was in a party of 5 today for lunch. I ordered the corn and sweet potato fritter, whilst not too bad, I found it a little dry, it was not good value for money as it was only served with a little sour cream and a average tomato type condiment, no side salad and it cost $20.00. There was no cutlery on the table when they brought the meals and when we asked for some, they brought us cutlery that was not clean so we sent it back got some clean. My friend used the toilet and it was unclean with an overflowing bin, service was slow and general management of duties was missing leading to long wait times, oh and my other friend wanted the scones with jam and cream and was told they had run out of jam! What cafe advertises scones and does not have jam and does not have a kettle to boil water for a cup of tea . Tea took 1/2 an hour to come because we were told the coffee machine was busy! Not good enough. Businesses say they want to open and make money.. but they have to do their bit too or the people will not come. It's a shame because the setting is lovely but overall I am being generous with a 3 star rating... give this one a miss, unless you just want a coffee...
