What a brilliant bar and lovely space for the locals to come and enjoy. The beer is amazing and so many variety of flavours to enjoy. Personally I drank the IPA, XPA and the Porter (though I may argue the latter is a Stout). The place has a young, hip, vibe and an atmosphere to rival any local brewery in Australia. It is truly a trendy, funky, place, with good comfort and staff. I dined from their restaurant and this is where they fell a little short, for mine. I ordered a steak, Porterhouse, and the finest from their menu. While I have absolutely no question on the quality of the meat, it was a fine cut, it was unfortunate that the chef was unable to give the love the meat deserved. I ordered rare and was delivered medium-well, at best. I made a point of complaining about this, despite my natural instinct, to Chloe, who was amazing and very personable when I was dealing with her during. I'd spoken to Chloe at the bar previously while ordering drinks and found her very engaging, as well as observing her directing service and managing other staff. When I received my meal the first time, I got a knife and no other cutlery, I had to go to the bar myself for it. After that I voiced my concern with how my steak was cooked. They took it away from there and re-did it. Chloe came over to me while I was waiting and apologised, offering a free beer for my trouble, I thanked her and reiterated I didn't want anything free, only wanting the rare steak I had ordered. Chloe made sure I had all the cutlery I needed and still insisted on the free drink she offered, even though in my instance it was not necessary, but appreciated. My new steak then came, while the meal was well presented, it was better cooked than the previous, it was also not rare, as requested, and closer to medium or possibly medium-rare. Based on my experience, almost everything is amazing with this place, the beer is fantastic, the establishment is warm and modern, Chloe is as much a joy at the bar as she is on the floor, the food seems to be of a very high standard, it just needs that small amount of polish to make it a cut above the rest. Overall...

Today I took my kids to try the food in Communion. As soon as we walk in, the atmosphere is great. Decor is simple, modern and inviting. Kids area were great. Very comfortable and clean..definitely don't see this kind of eatery in such a small town Burnie. And then... it kinda stop there. I spent over $170 for lunch and I don't feel as though it worth the money I spent. Don't get me wrong. It isn't the portion size. I ordered the banquet to share with my daughter. I ordered the lamb, salmon, tofu and squid. All 4 plates were under season and very bland. I am chinese so tofu is something I cook often. I wouldn't choose to use firm tofu to be deep fried. Silken tofu would have created a crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside texture, if using firm tofu, yes it doesn't break as easy but it will be like a tasteless dense dough after being deep fried. This is however my personal preferences. The sticky lamb, it was falling off the bones but.. it was overcooked pass the stage where the lamb is very dried.. it was very bland and incredibly oily.. maybe they think the lamb fat can compensate the dry meat? If so, that didn't work. Even my 10 year old said it was not nice. The squid was cooked to perfection cut through like butter but very under seasoned and bland. Smoke salmon, it was alright. Taste similar to the one we bought from supermarket. But definitely fresh though and not salty like the package ones. My 2 years old cannot eat the mini Mac, it was not good according to my other daughter as it was bland and the crumb on top actually made it worse. The cheese burger was good as brioche bun were use. Very big and filling. The fish and chip was rather regular, ok to eat. So, overall I think the food are incredibly expensive. I can spend that money on 2 very nice lunch out with my kids at other restaurants in the area with a lot more satisfaction. I asked my kids and myself, will we come back? No... unfortunately not for the food. Maybe with a drink and catch up with friends ? Again Communion wouldn't be my first preference...

Bit disappointing and expensive for what you get. Felt prety ripped off had to go find something else to eat after paying hundreds of dollars to not be satisfied. Staff are a mixed bag some were a bit cranky but one girl was nice. Service was a mixed bag too. Make an effort for some things but then don't give you enough cutlery or water or napkins. Banquet seems like a scam and the way it's written in the menu is confusing. Got banquet with 4 plates cost $90 and ended looking the same portion size as the two plates ordered separately for around $16 each. Lot of money wasted for a few bytes of food prety average food. Staff look like they'd get angry if we said anything so we just shut up because didn't want to ruin the special occasion. They should just say 4 plates for $60 and save the confusion and feeling ripped off. Unless that's the intention 🤷‍♂️. If anyone considering the banquet just don't. Just order the plates you want unless it's just two of you. Calamari and colliflower was great. Chicken tenders were dry and plain. Halumi cheese was super salty, and chicken wings were prety meh. Cotails were below average and I couldn't finish my scotch was just weird. Asside from that full sized meals looked really good but I didn't get one. Maybe next time. Was not satisfied when I left after paying a tonn of money had to go get something...

One of the best meals I've had in years. That beat all my favourite pub feeds, restaurants, fancy pants fine dining.. the lot. That filled my tank, charged my battery, nourished my soul. I don't even want to brush my teeth.. for the phantom remnants of flavour and goodness that lingers still, brings tears to my eyes. Thank you! That was delicious. You legends are literally improving the quality of life of all who are lucky enough to live nearby. We will go out of our way to come back to Burnie just to eat here again. Service and atmosphere were top notch as well.. warm attentive staff, charming booths, restaurant tables, high top bar tables, chill lounge areas, really nice space for all kinds of groups.. good music, not to loud, not to quiet.. good lighting, fireplace.. everything is just perfect. Grateful we came, and jealous you're not our local! Cheers ❤️ P.S We had a couple of the Oktoberfest specials (middle two) and the sliced beef roll with red wine sauce off the main menu.. and the best spicy marg we've ever had.

This is 100% a premiere venue in Burnie. Recently opened in late 2021, it has certainly had an impact. I'm a regular at this venue, and it's a great place to be, even as the winter sets in, the fire lights up and the mood stays great. Home grown, self built and industrially bespoke, this venue is hard to match. The brew pub is based around Burnie's first and only home grown brewery. Beers here are delicious and hand crafted, something for everyone and if beer is not your thing, great wines and cocktails . It's a great post work venue. For drinks with mates and colleagues. *New menu!* Huge new menu with something for everyone. The food is top notch, premium, with a focus on locally sourced. There are full meals and great sides/snacks. You can drop in for a brew and wings or stay for a full meal. Good special diet options. It's a big venue, plenty of seating choices and even has a kid's hang area to keep them out from under your feet. It's a must visit and highly recommended to book ahead on Wednesday thru to the weekends .
