iDumplings Asian Food & Dragon Bar — Restaurant in Cairns City

A bit of a disappointing experience as this is a low frills food destination with a very high price tag. Unlike most dumpling houses all condiments like soy sauce are not included, and must be ordered off the menu for $1.00. We ordered the Sichuan rainbow dumplings ($24.80) and they seemed to lack the dressing as they didn’t look like the picture. These dumplings are very low quality and were still cold in the middle, certainly not freshly steamed. We also ordered the spicy peanut wontons ($22.80) and the dressing on these is lovely, but the wontons were also cold and strangely crunchy like they were only partly reheated from frozen. If the dishes were served hot and with condiments accompanied by some human service it would be a significant improvement. As it stands though for what we paid this restaurant does not represent good value for money. I hope they can improve these aspects because even though they are in a popular tourist strip in the low season they will need a strong local trade to survive and it would be difficult to return to this location again for us locals. I note also they are doing an April special which was advertised throughout with a free tea, and also mentioned in multiple review responses here, however we couldn’t order the special through the system, it wasn’t offered to us from the robot, and the person who took the food off the robot didn’t speak to us and left before we could ask. We waited for 1 hr 20 min to get our order(three items)..we placed irder at 8.20 pm and even after 9.30 ( closing time) it was not ready..many others who placed order after us also got..we reminded after 45 min n main waitress didnt even look at order no and told another 15 min Our order was totally forgotten n main waitress ( blonde) was not even apologetic that it was late….without a blink she was ready to cancel order after 45 min of wait when we had asked about the order..! Each time she would say 15 min ( this is even after 45 min wait) n no apology at all. We own a bar n bistro at michigan n know how annoying it is for long wait and we werre taken back with her attitude! Food was cooked in hurry.fried rice had NO salt or flavor( my son even told this) Veg were uncooked n ot was clear it was cooked last min in hurry.. More than food taste i am annoyed by the waitress’s behavior to customers! I wish owners read this and understand how mean some waitress...

I recently had a disappointing experience at idumpling restaurant, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts. Unfortunately, the quality of the food left much to be desired.

I ordered the steamed boneless chicken in chili sauce, expecting a flavorful and spicy dish, but what I received was far from that. The sauce was watery and lacked any real heat, making it quite bland. It was disheartening to see that instead of using fresh, vibrant vegetables, the dish was prepared with frozen ones, which only added to the overall lack of freshness.

To accompany the chicken, I ordered fried rice, but it was equally underwhelming. The rice was tasteless and lacked the seasoning and texture that one would hope for in a good fried rice dish.
