Big disappointment I'm an experienced international traveller with extensive review history and am meticulous about being objective and fair So this is difficult. It's a good looking menu and very popular with lots of satisfied local clients But BOTH the king threadfin and the Coral trout were dry. They were cooked too long and / or left standing to dry out. They should be moist inside and 'flake' easily, but they were dry and a bit chewy We did make this point but didn't want to send back as we were hungry for the rest of the food on the plate. They gave us 2 compensatory glasses of port, but still fully charged us as not fully satisfied clients. Not great business Everything else was excellent - the ambience and service and oysters etc But $170 for 2 dry fillets means that we wouldn't take the risk of returning I have seen this before though, and it may be that they are cooking to the local clientele's particular taste, but it's not at all what I'd call satisfactory fish cooking Additionally, there was absolutely no seasoning or flavour to the fish, which again suggests a texture / flavour dumning down process. It's sad because it promised lits, delivered less, and charged us top dollar

绝对不要来这里吃 Despite the decent ambiance, the overall dining experience was incredibly disappointing. We ordered three dishes — a risotto, a linguine, and butter bugs. Two of them were priced at around $60 each, and the third was about $45 — still shockingly expensive considering what we were served. The portion sizes were small, and the seafood — especially the prawns — was clearly not fresh. As someone who frequently dines on seafood, I could immediately tell the difference. For a restaurant that markets itself as a seafood specialist, this is completely unacceptable. To make things worse, we had to wait nearly an hour for our mains with no communication from staff. We sat there without explanation until I had to get up and ask what was going on. At the end of it all, they still had the nerve to ask for a tip — after delivering slow service, overpriced dishes, and underwhelming quality. In short: don’t be fooled by the ratings or the decor. This place is a textbook tourist trap — overpriced, under-delivered, and poorly managed during busy hours. I do not recommend dining here.

My sister In Law and I were looking forward to a lovely lunch on the esplanade on Saturday 06/08 so thought we would go to Splash, as she had previously been there ages ago and enjoyed the meal. We had entrée of 3 dips and baget, then entrée servings of Chilly calamari and I ordered the Pork Belly bites. As you can see from the photos, not exactly what we expected sadly. I struggled through mine but couldn't eat it as was so dry and tough, and thought the dips would be suffice, but sadly they were lack luster also - not enjoyable so didn't finish those either. I did mention the meal upon collection of our plates, as staff could see I didn't eat my meal and the Pork was taken off the bill, and the staff apologized. As a local, I must say, was quite disappointed in the quality of the meals for my visit. On a positive, the staff are lovely, polite and the view is nice and relaxing.

We arrived at splash for dinner and were given One of 2 tables at the front of the restaurant that were actually situated on the pavement of a very busy sea front walk way and not actually in the restaurant. After having My chair bumped at least 3 times in as many minutes by pedestrians walking on the pavement that were having to navigate around our table, we asked to be moved. The staff were really rude and unhelpful. To be fair, I suspect that the council must allow the restaurants to move onto the walkway, but it is an incredibly unpleasant experience for what is essentially quite an expensive restaurant. We didn’t stay and eat because eating in rush hour pedestrian traffic with 100’s of people milling around your table isnt our thing… Had to give it one star, as couldn’t give it 0 stars…

UPDATE :- thank you for the reply but… bizarrely you are completely lying saying that we offered a table inside. In fact we pleaded with you twice and were told you are fully booked as per your reply below! Leaving was a real risk as we may not have been able to get a table anywhere else due to how busy it was. Honestly people.. in my opinion..DO NOT GO HERE as if a business cannot give and honest reply to a genuine review then question their integrity. Plenty of other really great places to go. We ended up in the Flynn Italian (great!) and Little sister next door (thai) looked really good. Their food looked brown and all fried… YUK! Such a shame. Take the review and give an honest answer and don’t try to discredit an honest review with outright fairy...

Well to be fair, We didn't have a booking. So this was a walk in, as all of my review's are, Every one of them. They welcomed us with open arms. Friendly and welcoming as can be..We ordered there specials of the day. We waited for over one and a quarter hours for the meal to come out after complaining about the wait. Mine was bugs in a mornay sauce. I got one and a half bugs still hard in the tail, cooked a ok but still in the shell, with a very little or lite mornay sauce over the top. so when I got the bug out of its shell were did the sauce go?? Look, was tasty, and small. (Stopped off for maccas on the way home? Lol) The wife had there honey chilli fish of the day and she was very happy with it.. Me I would go next door took 15 to 20 minutes for there very tasty food to come out. (See my review on the RAW PRAWN.) In Cairns I think all the restaurants can't do a decent mornay seafood sauce none of them offer it. This restaurant did and failed badly. Ok that's it for me. After going to 5 restaurants in Cairns the best I found was the RAW PRAWN. More expensive but I got what I wanted and...
