Visited Central Tilba with the family and waked past the historic Dromedary Hotel and noticed they had live music on the Sunday, excellent, dinner sorted!
Came back on the Sunday with another family to check out the live music, grab a feed and sample the Tilba Brewery beers on tap.
It’s like walking back in time as you enter the front bar. If I didn’t have the family I could have easily plonked myself on a stool at the bar and enjoyed running through each of the beers. Anyways, I digress, out to the beer garden with the family and live music.
The menu looked amazing and we had to try a few of the starters before ordering a main. Everything was delicious, even the kids polished off their meals.
Ran through each of the Tilba beers on tap and have to say the Amber Ale was my favourite. Even didn’t mind the limited release sour as a palate cleanser between ales.
Kids entertained themselves playing up in the fields behind the hotel which allow us adults time to chat and relax for a bit.
We didn’t stay here but it’s rumoured there is some spiritual guests hanging around the hotel throughout the night 🤷🏻♂️
Definitely recommend having a meal and a few drinks at the...
Read moreBefore I rave about how good my meal was let’s start with the staff. Whether it be the bar or kitchen staff, the chef or the manager no matter who you encounter, you are greeted with a feeling that few other places offer at this point in my trip .. friendly warm and Welcoming are a couple of things that come to mind. I sat at the bar. If you do you’ll observe that this service goes beyond a new face. The locals are greeted by name and flow is consistent (even in a slow day). I was told that lunch can see 100 meals and dinner 150 per day..
Great set up that will have you up and wondering about inspecting all that the hotel has to offer
Food I was suggested the seafood linguine or the Porterhouse
I went the porterhouse.. I asked for medium no blood but not well done on the outside.. what come out was exactly that. I spoke with the chef afterward and there was nothing short of gratitude. I have a side of creamy mash, beans and broccolini. THIS WAS HAVE TO BE UP THERE WITH THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST STEAK MASH AND VEG I’VE EATEN.. not only was the meal great but the experience was there on par.. highly recommend and all this for...
Read moreWe had one of the most pleasant surprises of our lives when we dined at The Dromedary last week. The food was wonderful; as good as anything we have eaten in capital cities all over the world. The pork pate took me straight back to The Loire Valley; topped with tiny garlic flower buds and accompanied by cornichons, chef made pickle and thin slices of freshly toasted sourdough it was a culinary delight. Soft pillows of gnocchi followed, threaded through with generous strands of moist roast duck and herbs. My husbands' rare steak was beautifully plated on a bed of smooth pomme puree; perfectly steamed broccoli and a generous slab of tarragon butter accompanied the dish. We understand this was all down to a highly professional michelin starred Chef recently arrived from the UK. Congratulations to the owners of The Dromedary and to the Chef, Luke and we strongly recommend everyone to support and enjoy this...
