A Hidden Gem for BBQ Lovers – Simply Unbeatable!

Having lived in Queanbeyan for a while, I was lucky enough to discover this incredible BBQ food shop, and it quickly became a regular stop for me. The moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and authenticity of their love for great food.

The highlight, without a doubt, is their Smoker Specials – a masterclass in BBQ perfection. The meat is always tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, and when paired with their rich, savory house gravy, it's nothing short of a revelation. It’s a combination that will leave you craving more every single time.

Not to be overlooked, their fries are simply the best I’ve ever had. Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned, they’re the ideal complement to any meal. Whether you’re ordering a full meal or just a side of fries, you won’t be disappointed.

But what truly sets this place apart is their exceptional customer service. The team here (specially Carlos) goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and valued. I’ve always been greeted with a smile, and more than once, they’ve gone out of their way to accommodate special requests or make sure I had everything I needed. Their genuine passion for both their food and their customers makes every visit feel personal and memorable.

Even after moving away from Queanbeyan, I still think about those Smoker Specials and fries. If you're in the area or passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by. This place delivers a BBQ experience that’s second to none, with top-tier food and service that will keep you coming back. I can’t recommend it enough.

A hidden smoky gem on Uriarra Road! I visited on a weekday, so the available menu was Pulled Pork, Lamb, Chorizo and wings, so I got one of each :-)

All the meats came out with a proper smoke ring and moist as barbecue can get. You can really tell the Chorizo is made in house, the spices are on point and smoked to perfection. I spoke with Pitmaster Carlos who told me the meats are smoked over Cherry and finished over Australian native hardwoods. The choice to smoke over Cherry wood is a good one as it complements the meats perfectly.

Really looking forward to returning on a weekend when their Brisket, Pork and Beef Ribs are also available on the menu. There's been a lot of talk about their smoked Doners besting the Yarra Kebab for the title of best kebab in the Canberra region, so will update my review once I've had a chance to sample the rest of the...

I live right on the other side of Canberra from Queanbeyan, and, tell you what, whenever I am even close (for example Fyshwick) my mind turns to whether I have time to go to the Old Town Smoke House.

Driving back from the coast? Wonder if they are still open... Might just go home via Queanbeyan rather than Sutton. Or on the way TO the coast - pick up a smoked duck to enjoy over the weekend.

The smoker special is awesome and I think great value. Brisket and pork are my particular faves.

I have had lovely chats with the owners about the various woods they use for smoking - no fake smoke or pressure cooked meats here. Properly long slow cooking and joy in every bite.

It isn't really a place to "dine in", but you could at a pinch. They also have an interesting collection of drinks including things...

Heard about this place on Friday, went to smash some BBQ on Saturday. One word - TERRIBLE. Paid a premium price for 2 day old, reheated in the microwave, brisket and beef ribs. Take a look at the pics, shows how bad it was. So bad. So disappointed. I can’t believe a person would try and pass that off as their best effort. Old Town Smokehouse should be embarrassed that they allow this rubbish to leave the kitchen. Obviously there is no pride in their work, otherwise, this wouldn’t have made it past the bin. Don’t visit. I’ll stick with the 2.5hrs drive to Appin for Southwest BBQ.

My partner is a huge fan of brisket and this one did not disappoint! The staff were super friendly, our food was hot and delicious, and packed in environmentally friendly packaging (where possible). All the ingredients are high quality and great size portions. We ordered the OT Deluxe (Beef Brisket) and the Smoker Special (Haloumi).

We had an incredible experience at this restaurant during our Easter holiday in Canberra. The meat was incredibly succulent, and the smoked duck was hands down the best we've ever tasted. The owner was really friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable. We visited two days in a row during our trip and definitely recommend trying out this place and supporting local businesses like theirs.
