Having lived in Queanbeyan for a while, I was lucky enough to discover this incredible BBQ food shop, and it quickly became a regular stop for me. The moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and authenticity of their love for great food.
The highlight, without a doubt, is their Smoker Specials â a masterclass in BBQ perfection. The meat is always tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, and when paired with their rich, savory house gravy, it's nothing short of a revelation. Itâs a combination that will leave you craving more every single time.
Not to be overlooked, their fries are simply the best Iâve ever had. Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned, theyâre the ideal complement to any meal. Whether youâre ordering a full meal or just a side of fries, you wonât be disappointed.

Iâve always been greeted with a smile, and more than once, theyâve gone out of their way to accommodate special requests or make sure I had everything I needed. Even after moving away from Queanbeyan, I still think about those Smoker Specials and fries. If you're in the area or passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by. A hidden smoky gem on Uriarra Road! I visited on a weekday, so the available menu was Pulled Pork, Lamb, Chorizo and wings, so I got one of each :-)
All the meats came out with a proper smoke ring and moist as barbecue can get. You can really tell the Chorizo is made in house, the spices are on point and smoked to perfection. I spoke with Pitmaster Carlos who told me the meats are smoked over Cherry and finished over Australian native hardwoods. The choice to smoke over Cherry wood is a good one as it complements the meats perfectly.
Really looking forward to returning on a weekend when their Brisket, Pork and Beef Ribs are also available on the menu.    Read moreI live right on the other side of Canberra from Queanbeyan, and, tell you what, whenever I am even close (for example Fyshwick) my mind turns to whether I have time to go to the Old Town Smoke House.
Driving back from the coast? Wonder if they are still open... Might just go home via Queanbeyan rather than Sutton. Or on the way TO the coast - pick up a smoked duck to enjoy over the weekend.
The smoker special is awesome and I think great value. Brisket and pork are my particular faves.
I have had lovely chats with the owners about the various woods they use for smoking - no fake smoke or pressure cooked meats here. Properly long slow cooking and joy in every bite.
