This is an edited review. I left a glowing review long time ago. I used to love to go there three to four times a week. Did it religiously for about close to two years. Spent about $300 per week, cleaning up whatever left behind at around 3-4pm. I have stopped supporting this business because I asked for a bag so I can carry all the pastry and bread I purchased. I was asked to pay $0.25 for a bag. I sent a SMS to the owner to let the owner that the formula does not add up, that is, the more I spent for pastries, the more I have to spend for their bags. No response at all. It shows how insignificant the value of my patronage is. So I stopped buying from them since then. Never looked back.
Pastry, bread, services, staff was all great when they were on holiday to France. One staff who always look bored and never like to talk too much was very happy and friendly after a week they were not there. A girl who knew how to make coffee no longer worked there after they returned from the holiday. Afterward, they put someone who does not know how to make coffee (not a trained barista) to make coffee (the wife owner trained her). Many google reviews pointed out area for improvements of service. The last time I purchased their bread and pastry was in June 2023. Not as good anymore. The business have unique products for the area, great potential, unfortunately in denial when it comes to self reflection and constructive feedback and does not value customer's loyalty. Perhaps it is because bread and pastries are always sold out before closing time. Maybe some people can tolerate this...

I actually had my $6.50 for coffee (it cost $7.20 btw) shoved back at me after spending over $70 for lunch, saying their soy milk doesn’t froth for extra froth and I should get my coffee elsewhere!
I only wanted what I ordered and paid for. No one said it wasn’t possible when I ordered. No one in the 4 countries I’ve lived in, the 5 Aussie States/territories I’ve worked in, the 18 countries I’ve visited, has EVER been so rude.
When I said I’d prefer to have all my money back and go elsewhere for the whole meal, she ignored me.
I politely pointed out that i had had the same coffee just the day before there (and in the shop next door as well, where it was delicious), and it wasn’t a problem (just supporting local business), the owner said they shouldn’t have done it and she would tell her staff off! Yikes
The food wasn’t THAT special enough to be treated like that! The shop next door has lovely owners. Go there - anywhere - instead.
And after you’ve had lunch, go to The Farmer’s Wife shop for something beautiful. I did. It...
Read moreAlthough we were driving though, my partner had done his homework and wanted to visit this cafe, so we made the time to stop and soak up a small piece of Creswick. Located in the centre of town with a beautiful shady oak tree out the front and old style shopfront, we ordered our coffee in our Frank Green reuseable cups along with a pear and frangipane almondine tart. The staff were more than happy to fill our reuseable cups and when we refused any packaging or napkins for the tart (we are trying to be as mindful of rubbish as possible) it was fine, unlike some cafes that look at us oddly. So we sat outside and watched the world go by and pondered what a nice lifestyle it would be to live in Creswick. Le Peche Gourmand raises the bar in patisseries in town and I can see why it’s so popular. With so many other cafes nearby, this is a standout and would highly recommend. Toilets are available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly fly. Good parking...
