I recently had the opportunity to visit my local McDonald's, a place that has been a go-to spot for many of us seeking quick meals and a comfortable environment. As always, I arrived with a sense of anticipation, ready to enjoy my favorite items from the menu. However, my experience this time was a bit different due to a staff member named Jack and some unexpected entertainment involving a person dressed as a cow.
From the moment I stepped inside, I noticed that the atmosphere was quite lively. McDonald's is known for its vibrant decor and the familiar sounds of customers enjoying their meals, along with the unmistakable aroma of fries cooking in the kitchen. It was a typical busy day, with families, friends, and kids buzzing about, all eager to grab their meals and enjoy their time together. I was excited to be part of this cheerful setting.
As I approached the counter to place my order, I was greeted by Jack, who seemed a bit flustered. While I understand that fast food restaurants can get busy, I expected a bit more attentiveness from the staff. Jack's demeanor made it clear that he was trying his best, but he seemed overwhelmed by the rush of customers. It was a shame because I could see that he had a friendly smile, but he was struggling to keep up with the demands of the job.
While waiting for my turn to order, I couldn't help but notice the spectacle happening behind Jack. A person dressed as a cow was mingling with the customers, creating a fun, albeit chaotic, scene. I appreciate that McDonald's often engages in playful promotions and themes, and the cow costume certainly caught everyone's attention. However, I felt that the novelty of the situation was distracting both customers and staff from the core purpose of the visit: enjoying a meal.
When it was finally my turn to order, I was eager to make my selections. I ordered my usual favorites: a Big Mac, a large fries, and a vanilla milkshake. As I placed my order, I noticed that Jack seemed a bit scatterbrained. He struggled to input my order into the register and, unfortunately, made a mistake that led to my fries being incorrectly sized. When I pointed it out, he apologized but didn't seem to have the confidence to correct it swiftly. This was frustrating because I had been looking forward to my meal, and the wait time was starting to extend longer than expected.
While waiting for my food, I observed how Jack interacted with other customers. His friendly attitude was evident, but his struggles with efficiency were clear. At one point, a family of four approached the counter with a complicated order. Instead of addressing their needs quickly, Jack appeared flustered and confused, leading to further delays. I understand that everyone has off days, but I couldn't help but feel that the overall service was lacking that day.
Eventually, my order was ready, and I picked it up from the counter. The Big Mac was perfectly assembled, and the fries were hot and crispy, which was a relief. However, the experience had left a slightly sour taste in my mouth due to the earlier confusion. I decided to find a seat to enjoy my meal while watching the lively atmosphere around me.
As I settled in, I noticed the cow character interacting with children, taking photos, and spreading joy. It was heartwarming to see how much the kids enjoyed it, and it added a unique touch to the dining experience. However, I still felt that the staff's focus should primarily be on providing excellent service rather than being distracted by...
Read moreLast night at around 2am we were in an Uber in the drive thru. As soon as we go to the speaker a girl said unclearly that there was an inconvenience and when we asked her to repeat it at the speaker as we didn’t catch what she said, there was no response. We moved to the window, we waited for at least two minutes with all the McDonald’s workers standing in a circle having a good old chat completely unaware that we and another car behind us were outside. Finally a man came to the window and advised us that they had to reboot their system and that it would take 20 minutes so they couldn’t take orders.
What I do understand is that sometimes the system does screw up and that’s not often people’s fault but what I don’t appreciate is the fact we constantly had to push for information. Also waiting at the window for that long with nobody aware we were outside was just careless. We were in an Uber, if we we’re screwed around for too much longer we could have been charged an extra fee which would have been completely unfair.
Overall, the fact that there is no manual system in place is appalling. Every good workplace has a manual system for when the system is down. Nobody offered to even write down our order.
I would suggest better training for some of your employees. They need to be better equipped for when the system is down to still run the business. A flat out “we’re not doing this, you need to wait 20 minutes to place an order” is completely unprofessional considering you guys claim to be open 24 hours. Customers also need to be treated as a priority and not be kept waiting for so long to get information. Considering us and someone behind us were the only people there, it’s not a hard task to keep track.
I really think the actions of last night were very careless and unprofessional. This could have...
Read moreBeen years since i visited a McDonalds and will be years before trying again. Decided to try it because its just been refurbished. Don't normally do google reviews either. Went to the counter to see the menu board and hopefully order there also - rather than use the machines. Staff continued to walk past but no one said hi, or can i help you or be with you shortly. Didn't even look at my wife and i. So after about 5 mins went to the machines and did the order manually. No printing of slip available - so went to counter again and eventually seen someone who confirmed they received the order and gave us a number. We sat and and waited. After a while and a number of people getting their meals before us we decided that almost 30 mins after walking in we would check it out. Only to find some items we ready and had been waiting ages while other items were still to be done. Advised we would not be wanting cold food and would like to cancel our order and get our money back. (to be fair we were offered a new fresh lot - but we didn't to wait even longer). While all this was happening the final nail was one young smaller teen girl deciding it was all funny and was making snide remarks to others. The same one banging others food and drinks on the counter! Shocked by the general rudeness and lack of...
