Poor quality food and a very rude Chef!
Me and my family visited the Shenhai Tandoori restaurant this evening and were very disappointed with the service and the food! I ordered the kashmiri chicken curry which tasted like boiling water with chicken boiled into it and some spices placed on top as a afterthought. The chicken had a lot of gristle and fat around it and the curry tasted like a bland broth!. When I mentioned to the waitress that it did not taste very nice she informed the chef who then stomped over to our table and challenged me in an aggressive manner in front of my children. He informed me there was nothing wrong with the dish and it must be my palate as many other people had not complained about the dish!. Whilst I appreciate as the chef he is passionate about his food, he should also realise that his behaviour and attitude towards constructive feedback (where the fatty and gristly chicken was pointed out to him) should have been taken into consideration. The way in which the whole situation was dealt with was absolutely abhorrent and woe betide anyone that complains in this establishment. They could benefit from going on customer service training. My view is that there are much better Indian restaurants out there and this is one to avoid at all costs! Be warned if you complain about their very poor food you will face the wrath of the...
Read moreHad the most amazing experience there to celebrate my friends' birthday. 4 girls ordered Onion Bhaji, Butter Chicken, Rogan Gosht, Goan Fish curry, Palak Paneer, Garlic naan, Pilau rice, Kulfi ice cream and Gulab jamins. Not overly spicy and spice was perfectly complement each other.
They use ghee oil and fresh garlic for the naan and cook in those special naan dome oven which tastes very different from other stores.
With butter chicken, despite all the spice, you can still tell that they pan fried the chicken before cooking with the butter sauce. We purposely order another naan just to finish the all the sauces.
Lamb was so tender, cottage cheese match so lovely with the spinach puree. The mints sacue goes well with the deep fried onion and you cant fee the oilness at all. The rice has so much fragrance with it too!
Dessert is divine, the ice cream is not easily melt on the plate but your mouth, the gulab jamins dumpling was not overly sweet. I can still go on but let's stop here as the memory makes me hungry again haha.
My friends are from Malaysia and they both commented that the food remind them so much of home at those Indian mamak stores. Although it's an hour drive from my home (SOR) to there, I have no hestiation to bring my friends there and...
Read moreWorth the visit! atmosphere is much better then most Indian restraunts In the area, very clean and tidy, the LED candles are a nice touch.
I like the fact that the menu is not over loaded with dishes, this is reflected in the quality and speed of the food.
The food was very good and nice portion sizes, the flavours were not too strong for the western palate and well presented. The food came out very fast but usually expected for curry dishes as there usually prepared in advance.
Saw Another table request sauce even though they ordered a dry dish. The Chef was very accomidating, he personally came out and made them a sauce just for them.
only thing could be improved on is the table service a little. The younger staff Didn't seem all too welcoming, didn't check in on us, and had to wave down a few times to order more drinks but overall not too bad.
The shared entrance with the take away side of the business takes the atmosphere of a restraunt away abit, and tables positioned near the entrance get abit of interruptions to the dining experience.
Overall Worth a Visit, suggest seating away from the entrance, BYO alcohol...
