Came here with my husband because we heard this is one of the best bakeries to stop at. We walked in and were so impressed with all the awards on the walls and trophies behind the counter. We took out our go pro and filmed the awards and I bragged on camera about how amazing the bakery seemed. While we were making our video, we got abruptly made aware in front of all the customers in the store about how they don't allow photos and videos. She told us there was a sign and we looked and found the sign was above the drinks on the right. Now a few things to note: firstly, she could have called us over to the counter and POLITELY told us that they don't allow videos or photos to be taken in their shop, instead of calling accross the shop and embarrassing us in front of everyone. Secondly, if I didn't want someone to take photos or videos in my shop, I would put the sign in an easy to spot place. Maybe at the till? Maybe on the door where people enter? Definitely not on a side wall above the drinks where no one really looks. Let me be clear and say we respect that they have rules and they have a right to not allow cameras. When she made us aware of the rules, my husband instantly apologised, turned off the camera and apologised again. The reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1, is because I enjoyed the sausage roll we bought and only the sausage roll. I thought most of their items were extremely overpriced, however we didn't mind paying a bit extra for "one of the best bakeries". The other thing we bought was a chocolate croissant. Unfortunately it was a burnt croissant and the only good thing about it was the chocolate. Another reason for giving 2 stars instead of 1, is because the girl that took our order was very friendly. All in all, I think this review would have been different if the lady was just polite and friendly about us using a camera. I tend to give good reviews, even if the food isn't the best. For me I think it's mostly about the service you receive. I used to work in hospitality and retail and even if customers were doing something they KNEW they weren't allowed to do, I was always still friendly and polite about. And if the sign was in a more obvious place, we would have seen it and we OBVIOUSLY wouldn't have used the camera. Unfortunately I don't think it's normal to walk into a store with multiple awards and search for a no camera sign. However it looks like a few people never see that sign because there are a lot of reviews that have photos attached to them of the inside...
Read moreI recently visited the Bakery, and I feel compelled to share my experience to help others make an informed decision. Unfortunately, my visit was far from satisfactory for several reasons:
Service: The service was disappointing. It lacked the promptness and attentiveness that one would expect from a cafe. Food Availability: Many menu items were unavailable, which was quite frustrating and limited our choices significantly. Milkshakes: The milkshakes were overpriced, and the quality did not justify the cost. It felt like a rip-off. Service: Two shakes took 20 minuets to come out (not a busy day) and the cake took another 15 minuets, why cant things come together? Based on my experience, I would suggest considering the cafe at the bottom of town for a more enjoyable outing. I hope the bakery takes this feedback constructively and improves the overall...
Read moreBuyers Beware. Never been so disappointed in a bakery before. Have had a fair share of award winning food in general. This would have to be the main one that left me scratching my head on how they achieved. Long story short went with the vindaroo. Thai green curry. And cheese tomato sausage roll. All the pastries has a dry outer layer with a raw doughy layer underneath. I've tasted better from lunch bars in the afternoon in Perth. All 3 pieces of the roo were decent. Quite tender so welldone on that. All the gravy in pies just had the same curry powder plain taste. I know you have to cater for the white pallet but cmon. Little bit of a kick would be great. Very disappointing. Lucky stopped by crossing bakery on way and finished with a great one at royale patisserie albany. Geuinily deserving...
