Every review 5 stars......Mmmmmm. We booked a table for my birthday dinner and upon arriving was told there were no tables available. We were offered to sit around a coffee table. Not being fond of the idea of trying to eat a meal on our knees, we declined. Worse still, the waitress didn't appear to care, laughing it off and directing us to a place down the street! Even worse, she tried to blame us, saying that we should have made it clear that we wanted a table....WT?? Aside from expecting to get a table for dinner at a restaurant, I don't know what isn't clear about a booking in writing, which clearly stated, "I would like to book a table for dinner for 2 people at 7.00pm."
With regard to your response, I guessed you were one of the owners but you didn't advise us of that - you appeared to be acting as a waitress at the time but that's neither here nor there. The "juggling" and "dancing" you mention was after the fact I.E. when we were leaving because there was no table. Yes, after the fact, you said we should have mentioned a "seated table". Now, I'm an intelligent man but I'm not a mind reader and in my 64 years on this planet, I've never heard of such a term as "seated table" for a restaurant booking. You requetsed that we book by text and we did. The message we sent, "I would like to book a table for dinner for 2 people at 7.00pm", couldn't be more clear, and it's an insult to anyone's intelligence to suggest that we expected to sit at a coffee table and eat dinner on our knee. Yes, you offered us an alternative - a different coffee table! There was no table "set beautifully with a candle" - there were 2 ladies still sitting at the coffee table you offered us! A mistake is one thing, and can be forgiven, however you handled the situation very badly at the restaurant ruining my birthday dinner plans, again in the 2 follow up messages you mention in which there was an apology of sorts buried by the excuses, again mentioning we should have booked a "seated table" (neither message mentioned another restaurant or asked if we found somewhere else to eat), and again in your reply to my review. You needn't have created this amount of dissatisfaction - I wasn't happy about your mistake but what is really upsetting is that you blamed us, and continue to do so. I'll have a bet with you that if I made 100 restaurant bookings and requested a "seated table", I would receive a giggling response along the lines of "What other sort of table is there in a restaurant?" every time. It would have been much better if you had just accepted your mistake...
Read moreMy oh my...Flame Trees! ❤ Denmark is one of my favourite towns so when I discovered there's a new restaurant in town, I was so excited! Been here twice and both times were such a delightful culinary experience. The whole restaurant is simply magical, intimate and has a great atmosphere. The owner/host Kelly is so lively and friendly and so were all the other staff too. The food was delicious, the drinks were pretty and refreshing and the desserts!!! Oh the desserts! 🍮🍹🍸 (I do have to say, I was looking forward to having the Lime and meringue Martini in the special beautiful tall glass that I saw on another review, it looked so 'feminine' 😁 but when I was there, they changed the glass to a shorter glass 😕 so I asked Kelly why, she said it's because the staff kept breaking the tall glass LOLOLOL ah well...understandable)
Anyway, in my 1st visit, I had Fish Crudo as entree, Cooper's Roo Ragu as main and Cookies & Creme Brulee as dessert. In my 2nd visit, I had Chicken Saltimbocca as main and again, Cookies & Creme Brulee. My tummy was so stuffed and happy. I absolutely loved3x the roo ragu, chicken saltimbocca and cookies & creme brulee...Oh la la! I'd kill to eat them again now 😋 The portion were generous with hearty presentation, inviting you to savour every bite. But I'm not really a big fan of the fish crudo. It's a sweet and sour dish, though it's nice but it's too much as an entree (I think). Price wise - yes it's expensive, but it's reflective of the high quality food and so worth it. Besides, what's cheap in Perth these days, right?
I can't wait to go back again soon! What a great addition to Denmark's...
Read moreKenny, and her team have created something truly special in Denmark—a cozy, welcoming small bar set in the iconic fig tree complex in the heart of town. It’s the perfect blend of great food, delicious drinks, and a vibe that makes you want to linger just a little longer.
The wine and cocktail list is small but mighty, with a little something for everyone. Whether you’re sipping on a classic cocktail or trying a local wine, every option feels carefully chosen and something new to try. The food? Absolutely on point. It pairs perfectly with the drinks, and it’s been made with love making it perfect to be shared with friends.
The atmosphere is lively, with a friendly hum of conversation that reflects the joy of the space. It can get a bit lively with the hard surfaces, but honestly, it adds to the charm. It’s the kind of place where you feel the energy without it being over the top. The locals are so lucky to have a gem like this right on their doorstep. Plus, it’s wonderful to see a small business doing so well, creating employment, and contributing to the local economy.
One thing I absolutely love is their early sittings. In a regional spot like Denmark, it’s such a bonus to enjoy a fantastic night out and still get home early if you want. You leave feeling full, happy, and like your evening was well spent.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this spot is an absolute gem. Great drinks, great food, and the perfect spot to soak up the magic of Denmark under...
