Grill'd Manuka — Restaurant in District of Canberra Central

Disenchanted would be the first word that come in mind to describe this venue after today visit.

After sitting down for several minutes and being confused where the menus where. I decided to approach the staff member behind the counter and ask where the menus where. She seamed quite friendly but distracted from her job. The venue wasn't busy. I mentioned that both my partner and I where first timers in the venue within our brief conversation.

The same female staff member took our order when we where ready and pleasantly helpful explaining that different buns where available plus what to do with the bottle caps which donated towards different charity's.

Within our order we also asked for a bottle of water for the table. We did also purchase drinks also but it was about 33 degrees today. Both my partner and I had both been working outside today in the heat and still in work wear. Yet we had to ask twice for the water. The staff member did say quite loudly that the glasses available where dirty and to get clean ones to another staff member. Yet the bottle we received was clearly not clean and luke warm. We drank it anyways...

The meal which was presented to use was not what I expected from an establishment like this. The burger was very nice but oddly placed on a long plate to the side with no sides or garnish just a half empty plate. Both burgers where of good quality but definitely nothing to rave about. Considering it seamed to specialise in burgers.

We also got a share plate of 3 different types of chips. The staff member was very nice and let me choose other sauces as the "normal" ones all had added sugar and I am trying to avoid added sugar when possible within my diet. Unfortunately the chips where not fantastic. The sweet potato came out burnt. A staff member noticed me photographing them and may have over heard my partners and I discussion between us. Ask if the meals where ok. I made mention of the chips and they where replaced but the replacement chips where not much better either. I did like the avocado chips and the plain chips where very crunchy also.

Overall I feel that the staff here may not have been properly trained in customer service. Most where very distracted from the few clients present and unaware what to do next.

In the beginning of my review I used the word disenchanted for my description of the place. Which is the best word I feel could only describe my disappointment on today visit to this establishment. I was excited to see the sign out front stating healthy burgers and even when the food was brought over. Yet on closer inspection the illusion of a healthy simple option brought great disappointment.

I may consider going back for a burger but definitely wouldn't recommend ordering the sweet potato chips. Don't expect high quality service from staff either even though the female member who served us mostly was friendly she still was untrained in general customer service skills. Just plain AWFUL. We had waited nearly 2 hours for our food which was only sliders for 2 people and chips. Place was very over crowdered. People with kids were complaining and weren't even waiting 5 mins and was getting served! Looked like staff were working very slowly and were talking. You could see the staff making burgers and leaving them sit there not doing anything with them, and after 10 or so mins they would just throw them out! The line seemed like it was always to the door even though there wasn't that many people! They were also serving people quick snap who wanted extra sides and stuff quickly within minutes instead of worrying about the people who had been waiting hours for a simple meal! RIDICULOUS! NEVER COMIMG BACK AGAIN! CRAP PLACE TO COME! If ever considering coming to here DONT! It's also OVERPRICED! No wonder people prefer...

I'm a little torn on this review. I was originally going to 2 star this review for my dining experience but every other time that I've come to Grill'd, this one or others, it's been fine. The burgers aren't the biggest or smallest, the cheapest nor the most expensive, and the quality is normally more than mediocre. This time however, I thought I'd try a "Healthy Fried Chicken" burger, and healthy it was, for it came with no salad, and nothing else in it at all besides the chicken and the bun. We dined in, so a waitress came over to check up on us and if I was willing to wait 20 minutes for a replacement I'd have said something but truthfully I felt in that moment that their burgers just aren't worth it.

Don't get me wrong, this place is normally fine and I'd come here again with friends, but it was a pretty 'how ya goin' ' way to end...
