Hello Cafe — Restaurant in District of Canberra Central

I have an urge to fight every day, and that is to have breakfast ,lunch,and dinner at Hello. Barney is the main cook .....and his food is an absolute delight.I'm a try hard vego and Hello has a good to great selection of vegetarian menu items, good because Ruby (the owner) loves to eat the vego dishes so sometimes availablity is an issue. But food is always fresh.Recently tried the Green Piece Pizza, amazing.Service is great,its busy so not always able to get to you straight away but when it happens its all systems go.Coffee is awesome . Remember this is a Cafe of the homely school.Full of personality and great home style cooking. Always accomadating ,always friendly (except a couple of boring staff who are only on occasionally).I was talking to one of the other customers last week and he said "I've been living in France for the last seven years,and finally I've found a real cafe here in Hello!" Get the picture ? I Love it PS I listed the decor as poor to fair because its not on my priority list. I just want to add that one of my pet hates is a cafe that doesnt provide decent toilets, well at Hello! there are seperate male/female toilets and they're kept clean and ...

The staff at this cafe today were appalling. It was a quiet Saturday morning and they had three floor staff plus one barista and I waited literally 25 minutes for a small takeaway coffee. They had no idea what was going on. I actually went up to the counter to ask for my money back because I was sick of waiting for my coffee and one of the staff glared at me and pointed at one that she was making and said " This is it" and I reluctantly took it. She then told me that it took a long time because there were lots of people waiting before me. There were only two other people waiting for takeaway coffees, and I told her as much... As I was leaving she then told me to "be careful on the road" which I took to be some kind of weird threat. The floor was also incredibly dirty with bits of food and also detritus from outside everywhere. I had been thinking of going there for breakfast but there is no way I will ever step foot in there again, and I live in Campbell.

Daughter and Granddaughter ordered a simple plate of Pancakes - over an hour later the waitress tells us it'll be another 10-15. After another 15 minutes I went in to say we are leaving and saw the waitress (not the kitchen staff) mixing a batch. Giving them benefit of the doubt we waited further still. After an hour and a half from when we arrived they came out - they could eat the fruit and icecream but the pancakes were inedible.

I don't care if they are busy or not - cafes are meant to maintain a standard of service and food quality regardless. People who arrived 30 minutes after us were receiving their food - to keep a four year old waiting that long (or anyone for that matter) is atrocious....
