We went to Timmy's Kitchen on a Saturday night at around 8.30pm and had no problems getting a table. We were warmly greeted and received a jug of water, wine glasses and menus immediately. The restaurant is typical Asian style cafe layout offering pleasant inside and outside dining. being a 37c day we sat outside. We ordered 4 mains (Curry Lamb, Asam Curry Chicken, Shung Tung Chicken and Singapore Noodles), 2 serves of Roti and plain rice. This was shared between 3 hungry adult males. Prices were around $15 - $18 each. The food arrived promptly. All our dishes were nicely presented, tasty and the servings sizes were generous. We worked hard to finish it all but failed, not by much though. At the end of the night the bill came to a tad under $30 each including corkage. Would I recommended Timmy's Kitchen to friends and would I go again? Yes I would.
I would like to point out. After reading several negative reviews on this restaurant we nearly didn't go, but our hotel receptionist highly recommended it and I'm glad I listened. I could see how earlier in the night it would be very busy and want to turn over...
Read moreAbysmal food and attitude of the waiters. I don’t wish to give any star to this restaurant. Seems like the management has changed. The food and the service used to be top notch and it was one of my favourite restaurants in Canberra.Very disappointed about the state of Timmy’s. We went for a family dinner and ordered duck spring roll and the filling was stale with an obvious stink. Despite of returning the dish after tasting it we were asked to pay. We ordered sizzling Belakan prawn and the prawn was not fresh and was gluey. The waiters were very rude and more than etiquette I guess they need to be civilised. They slammed the plate of fried rice when serving. Due to dietary requirements, we requested to exclude egg from the vegetarian sizzling plate and we were told no customisation next time.My wife who is pregnant was actually looking forward to have the dinner but was disappointed and we will not come back to this restaurant again. We shall share this experience with our friends and family as well.
PS - I have to give one star as google doesn’t allow me to submit...
Read moreVery Disappointing. We hadn’t eaten here for many years and thought that it was time. Booked by phone for an early meal at 6pm 11 Oct. Ordered old favourites: Spring rolls, Steamed dim sims, Shantung chicken, Dry chilli beef and Special fried rice. The food was served in an amazingly short time. Dim Sims ok but not very hot. Spring rolls, lacking ingredients and only just warm. Shantung chicken, very ordinary and not freshly cooked. Dry Chilli Beef totally overcooked and reheated (burnt). Left overs from another day? Fried rice (?) reheated leftovers with lumps of un fried rice and a few school prawns thrown in. The chef(?) exited the kitchen three times during our meal to smoke out on the street!! Paid for the meal and left without comment after the owner/manager made herself scarce. For such a long established establishment a totally unacceptable meal and...
