i started coming here around the start of 2024 more regularly than the previous year, and once a week / two weeks for the next six months, on a quite regular basis.
first I will still start with the compliments, -the staff 'were' nice, happy and enthusiastic. -the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. -the coffee was 'just' worth the price. -great interactions with other customers.
those pros are good enough for me to want to go to regularly enough and support the store as I only live very close by.
with good hopes and optimism in mind, things gradually become worse with the coming weeks and the opinion of not only mine but of those if other customer i spoke to while waiting 10+ minutes for a takeaway cappuccino with only two other similar and basic orders ahead of my own. the staff has lost their passion, they only seem tired and careless and what I feel from them is no love or pride left for what they do anymore.
the cons -expensive and competitive prices (competing to empty your wallet with $16 sandwich stickers, and close to $7 for a coffee). -uninviting staff, you can see on their faces they hate being there, the expressions are so faked when you are being served, not one of them would have a shred of hope in an acting career. -the coffee I last bought tasted horrid, it was burnt, the milk like it had been out for 8 hours on a warm day, not enough beans before a weak and unsure press, not to mention the grind was re-used from the previous customer right before my very eyes. the milk was ungodly hot, you can bet if I was a senior there would be trouble... not what i expected at all for a drink which cost $6.80. my cat would make a better instant coffee given the chance. instead I am given this abomination of a beverage for the hard earned currency I chose to spend here. -unorganised and chaotic staff, they are oblivious and display such ingenuity during their interactions. even a hooker knows how to be professional.
all in all, I am unhappy with what has become of coffeehouse and I cannot and will not recommend this even to somebody...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was I need of a filling meal to begin my Friday morning as my friend and I have a big day of work ahead of us. We stumbled across the Guru coffee shop and upon first glance it seemed a respectable establishment with filling, heathy spiritual satisfying meals (hence the guru name). I order the chefs special chicken schnitzel and a chocolate croissant, while my friend order the breakie wrap and a flat white.
The chefs special: This was most certainly not special in fact it was the furtherest thing from it. Half the meal was hailing from frozen origins which was accompanied with a measly salad at best and a repulsive serving of sauce. The tomatoes and cucumbers were dwarf sized barley enough to feed a baby while to rub the salt into the wounds they couldnāt even supply me with cutlery to eat this depressing food. FYI $16.90 is daylight robbery but I hope they made a profitā¦
Breakie wrap: The breakie wrap was exceptionally average boasting a variety of seemingly delicious contents. When you read chorizo, spinach and eggs all in a single meal on the menu the expectation is nothing less than flavoursome. However this was as plain as a blank A4 sheet of paper lacking any real flavour resulting in a repeated dry crunching of nothingness at every bite. Never thought I would see the day were I gave away $14.90 for nothingness but never say never right.
Croissant/ flat white: To top of this violation of a breakfast the croissant was visually appetising but as the saying goes looks can be deceiving. My first bite after it being heated up WAS STILL COLD. The stale bite left me feeling empty at the $20 plus dollars I had just thrown away. The flat white was a sorry excuse for a coffee and more of a milkshake with the disproportionate ratio of espresso to milk. This subsequent mismanagement from the baristas left my friend with a sudden upset stomach and a dire need to find a restroom.
Overall this was not the start we were looking for to our Friday and are now late, unfulfilled and not angry just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis morning I decided to come in to claim my FREE coffee guru card, they were all stamped at the coffee guru franchise's I've been too.
In the terms and conditions word by word it says: "upon surrendering the completed card, ALL COFFEE GURU STORES WILL HONOUR THIS OFFER REGARDLESS OF WHICH COFFEE GURU STORE STAMPED AT".
Unfortunately this store does not honour there loyalty card terms and conditions policy.
They will only honour their stamped card ones ONLY.
Been told to go back and claim them at another store instead.
Still gotten a hot drink it was still good, but the service and the matter was a let down.
11.44, Edit: the pen scribble was also stamped over by a coffee guru stamp when I went to a guru, so my cards are valid to use due to them been stamped over with...
