Been buying from here every couple of weeks for the past year.
I was ordering when I saw a yellow fried chicken come out, asked what the dish was and was told it was Hainan chicken.
Sorry Hainan chicken is not fried! Guy says they’ve improved the recipes. I should have canceled my order then and there. Born and raised in Singapore and Malaysia, this is my home food. I order our staples Char Kway Tiau, Laksa and the curry roti satay dish.
Sorry, but satay is NOT fried and covered in a sweet hoisin sauce, laksa tasted weird and different certainly missing the rumpei, none of the shrimp paste taste, kind of a rough copy of what a Laksa would be, not even as good as packet sauce. And my favourite curry was tasteless, again like a packet sauce none of the real flavour it used to have.
Must be new owners cost cutting, and definitely not From SE Asia. No self respecting Singaporean and Malaysian would serve this tripe. Embarrassing. From the best local SE Asian restaurant to something that I will never go back to.
Such a shame, I wish new owners would respect the regulars and keep the recipes rather than cost cutting.
I foresee a new failed restaurant in the...
Read moreThis is our go-to spot for Singaporean street food whenever we’re in this part of town. The menu is full of authentic, flavour-packed dishes—standouts for us include the Hainanese chicken, king prawns with glass noodles, pipis in a variety of sauces, rich and comforting laksas, and beautifully cooked duck dishes.
The setting is casual and unpretentious, more like a bustling café than a formal restaurant. Think tiled floors, simple tables and chairs, and a relaxed vibe. You order and pay at the counter, and the friendly staff bring the food to your table.
Speaking of staff—they’re incredibly warm, helpful, and accommodating. No request is too much trouble, and takeaway containers are available free of charge (a thoughtful touch that sets them apart).
There’s also a large round table with a glass lazy Susan that seats 8–10, perfect for shared meals with family or friends. The venue is licensed, with BYO available, and there’s convenient street and nearby parking.
Some of the original metal chairs don’t have padding, though padded ones are available too. But honestly, the great food, fast service, and welcoming atmosphere make it a clear...

The rest however is disappointing if you're after authentic Singaporean/Malaysian.
Laksa really lacked the 'lemak' flavour. Chicken rice tasted like it was cooked with pre packed paste- the dark grey colour usually a give away as ginger has oxidised during the manufacturing process.
Satay chicken is the CHINESE stir fry style NOT malaysian/Singaporean. This is hugely disappointing as restaurant is calling itself Singaporean. There is a skewer option, but from the photo theyre the common gui low fried ones with peanut butter smeared over it. Us Singaporeans and Malaysians can spot this fake Satay a mile away.
Sorry, if you can't put in the hard work on the rempah, you're not making real Singaporean/Malysian food. There's no quick way around it.
Overall the food tasted ok, authenticity it is...
