Went to this restaurant with my girlfriend last night for Christmas. We chose your restaurant because we loved it, especially its side dishes (kimchi and fishcake). When we went to get some side dishes, one of their staff (medium hair female in her late 20’s or early 30’s) came to us and said "you can't take any side dishes until the main dishes are already on your table." without any signs or remindings anywhere in this restaurant. That was OK coz we thought it was sort of their rules or Korean traditions, we were even sorry for breaking the rules, even if before that no one has told us there was a rule.
What made us unhappy was when we finally had all the main dishes (a Bimbimbap, a fried beef, and a soup and 3 drinks) on the table so we took some kimchi, the same lady came to our table directly when she saw the side dishes on our table, saying "do not waste any side dishes". It really made us awkward and discriminated. We felt the reason the lady said that was based on an unreasonable assumption that we were uneducated and we were going to take all side dishes immoderately and waste them, although the fact was you provided this area for us to take side dishes, and we literally did not waste any. I was about to stand up and argue with this lady, but as it was Christmas we did not want to ruin everybody else's time so I refrained my anger.
After that, the rice which was supposed to come with the soup did not come. We had no evidence but it was hard not to suspect that it was the lady who thought we were going to waste their food told the kitchen not to give it to us.
Again, we loved your food, so we chose your restaurant for Christmas. We took the side dishes because you privided them, and we wouldn't waste them. Please don't treat us...
Read moreI used to eat here all the time. Just the other day I came all the way from city centre. Checking google with it saying that the restaurant was open until 10pm.
I came with my friend at 8:33 with the door sign saying they are open. And to our surprise, the waitress told us that they cannot serve us because the kitchen stop taking orders at 8:30. We were 3 minutes late therefore they cannot serve us. I tried to tell her that we came at this time because google said that they were open till 10pm. We did not know that they ACTUALLY close 1.5 hrs before what is said on google.
As someone who has worked in a restaurant before, Nor did I expect that they would rather trade off the earnings of a table of customers for 3 minutes of closing time.
If u really want to be strict about time, a better option might have been telling us that “Sorry, our kitchen closes at 8:30. I could make an exception for you if you can order within the next 10 minutes, so that the kitchen could make your food on-time. But it would be much appreciated if you can come before 8:30 next time.” Customer is happy and understands ur rules, the restaurant gets another table of earnings for just being open for orders for 3 minutes.
Overall we did come 3 minutes late, but there was a fair reason for the misunderstandings of closing time. Which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of one. Please adjust closing time or at least make it a bit more clear so that people who travelled 30 min to go to the restaurant won’t be wasting a whole hr just to go there and get...
Read moreI've been to Korea many times on bicycling trips. And the organisers make it a point to introduce us to the very varied range of Korean cuisine. We have Korean restaurants in Perth and most serve the bog-standards that people are familiar with (bulgogi, barbecue, kimchijeon, etc). So it was good to find in Canberra, where we were visiting family, a restaurant that served many of the dishes I was unable to find outside Korea. If you have not, try backbone broth. Not only is it delicious, but it works well to help you get over a hangover. It is usually served with sweet potato noodles (translucent). Sundae is Korean blood sausage and not an ice cream confection. And it's delicious. We opted for a sea food pancake instead of our usual kimchi pancake and it made a nice change. We loved barbequed pork belly wrapped in perilla leaves with cucumber, raw garlic, and gochujang sauce. But we chose a variation at dinner: braised pork hock, wrapped in lettuce leaves with the cucumber, raw garlic and spicy sauce. It was a good choice All the preceding was washed down with a tasty Korean QB beer. My suggestion is that each dinner picks a dish and you share. There's plenty of free parking close to the restaurant and it's about 150m from the closest light rail station. Credit cards are accepted and there is...
