We have eaten here twice in a couple of weeks now and we are completely smitten with the food and the service of this amazing Thai restaurant. From the warm welcome on arrival to a pre-dinner drink from their fully licenced bar, through the attentive and knowledgeable service on ordering (we didn't have many questions but tables nearby were asking about the different dishes and the staff were very happy to explain dishes and make sure the spice level was what the diner was after) - and the dessert service - nothing could be faulted. In fact it feels like going to your local favourite - even though it's our first few times here.

So good the first time we just had to have them again were the home made fish cakes (next level good), the cripsy almond prawns (this is what prawn entrees are all about!), the pad cee iew with pork (super moreish) and the calamari rocksalt (crispy and garlicky and spicy goodness). The red curry beef is amazing and the portions are plentiful when sharing. Do yourself a favour and order the coconut rice - it just takes everything to another world when eaten with the curries and stir fried dishes. The banana parcel is a whole new take on typical banana fritters - being wrapped in a crispy pastry shell, a few bites of banana are matched with delicious ice cream with some topping on the side if you like.

Nisa and her crew in the kitchen are quick, prepare amazing food, the portion sizes are good and the spiciness is spot on to what you order. I personally like chilli hot at a Thai level but usually those I'm eating with can't handle it so the staff happily bring some good hot prik nam pla which gets me that heat kick with the fish sauce saltiness that brings out the best in food.

The staff are super attentive and unobtrusive - we actually had quite a few laughs with them, they were so lovely. It really feels like your local favourite even though we've only been here a few times. That will change now as this is now definitely our new local place! Keep up the great work Nisa...

What a special find with this new restaurant in the Lanyon Conder district! It’s possibly the best Thai in Canberra, and definitely the best soft-shell crab I have had anywhere worldwide.

The soft-shell crab with apple slaw salad had me swooning with its blend of flavors - crunchy, zesty, and oh-so-fresh. I am still craving the unique coating on the crab.

We entree’d with my favourite soup of all time, the Tom Kha Kai soup; it was like a warm hug for my taste buds during a wintery cold day. It was SO DELICI0US. And filling.

My partner had the combination cashew stir fry and was delighted with the textures and quality of the seafood and meat variations, considering the combination option was not actually on the menu. He enjoyed the generous amounts of lightly battered fish pieces, squid, scallops, beef, chicken, pork as a symphony of textures and aromas. His entree was marinated chicken wings with homemade special lime dressing that he found astoundingly divine. Plus, the servings were surprisingly generous!

The restaurant itself was spotless, with the friendliest staff and a chef who's clearly a master in the kitchen. Every dish is crafted with care from scratch, and the value for money is unbeatable. We were so blown away that we left a hefty tip to show our appreciation. Trust me, this...

I haven't had a meal like this in a long time 🤤

We had ordered for Entrees, Chicken wings with Honey Glaze sauce, simply magnificent...

Mains, Beef salad and Calamari Rocksalt, Fried Rice without prawns

I had tried it all by itself, amazing food, although I had taken this mouth-watering meal to another level! I had mixed the juice from the Beef salad with the fried rice (CRAZY) 🤤🤤🤤 And the sauce from the chicken wings I poured it onto the Calamari rocksalt (WOW)🤤🤤🤤

This meal from Suburban Thai I will not forget for a long time, no I tell you all it was bloody amazing!!!

Now, that is how food is meant to taste, like when you are treating yourself!!! Suburban Thai, you keep cooking like that. China Tea House will lose me forever!
