We came across Souva Bar while driving through Drysdale. We decided to stop and eat in, and we're glad we did. We found a gem in the area. When you walk into the shop the staff are welcoming, you are greeted with greek music and the fantastic aroma of cooking meat. We ordered the saganaki for entree. The lamb souvlaki wrap (kalamaki) and the biftekia, served with salad, pita, greek feta, and chips (open plate). They were excellent! The meat was well seasoned, tender, and flavourful. The chips were crispy and not oily. The pita is excellent, not dry and not oily. The biftekia were a highlight. So succulent and fresh! We also ordered the Snickers Baklava and the loukoumades. We liked the concept of the baklava, although i found it's a little sweet and a tad dry (just not to my tatse). I found the loukoumades a tiny, tiny, tiny bit doughy. BUT the syrup was excellent! We order again, but this time, take away. The process is easy on their website to order and pay. I would like to see an option to remove items from the meal as i dont eat onion as an example. We ordered the chicken gyro (gyros wraps), the chicken souvlaki (kalamaki), and the small chips (this was ample for the 2 of us) I am sooo picky with meat, and it was perfect. Often, after a souv, i feel over full and heavy. These are the perfect size. From order to pick up, it was about 15 mins. The restaurant was full, so I felt this was a great turnaround time. We HIGHLY recommend Souva Bar. We look forward to eating...
Read moreA Greek Tragedy in Drysdale
I recently ordered takeaway from Souva Bar Drysdale, hoping for an authentic Greek meal. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing.
The order was not taken correctly and the so called manager made an assumption to remove the main meal from the order without confirming. On arriving home to expect to eat a proper meal we were left without the main dish, just pathetic. Anyone with some comm sense would not remove a main item from an order by assumption and should double check to confirm the order, not point at a receipt and expect people to check, Go figure!! I won’t complain about the remaining items of left over food other than the cheese was rock hard like a biscuit.
Seeking a resolution, I contacted the restaurant to express my concerns. Regrettably, the response was dismissive, with little acknowledgment of the issues I raised, needless-to-say being hung up on. Totally zero respect for customers
Given this experience, I cannot recommend Souva Bar Drysdale. I hope they address these shortcomings to improve their service and food quality...
Read moreInitially (mistakenly) left this review at Mavs Geelong which was actually intended for Souva Bar Drysdale (as follows)… Being completely honest, Souva Bar Drysdale has huge potential. The owner and staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful. My only gripe is in fact the food….Gyro needs more seasoning and needs to be charred / crispy, not pink and just barely cooked. Chips need to be golden and crispy not soggy and pale. Fried Calamari and Haloumi sticks are oily, the calamari is also under seasoned. These issues seem to be consistent over our numerous dine in visits and takeaway. Mav’s Geelong seem to have if right, if only they could pass this on to the Drysdale team. Other than that we love coming here, it won’t stop us… but hopefully the comments are taken on board and this improves the dining experience! Mav’s Geelong (from our visits) has always...
