Some 11 months ago I gave 5 stars and wrote"We come here quite often, great food and friendly service, always seems to be room inside even when the car-park is packed out." Last night we had a meal there again, and things have changed.
I remember souvlaki the way Papou used to make it. A nice cut of lamb diced and marinated overnight, then roasted on a rotating skewer over hot coals as he dripped garlic sauce and lemon juice over it, then passed us juicy, tender and sizzling hot pieces to sample. Unfortunately the "Souvlaki" I was given last night could not have been further from that if they tried. Lukewarm pieces of tough and tasteless lamb with gristle running through it. At least the chips were sizzling hot. My wife had the Beef Schnitzel, a small, thin and quite dried out offering, given taste only by the large serving of quite nice gravy served separately. Again, the chips were hot! Service was fine, I don't know what has happened to the meal, but we won't be...
Read moreWent for dinner with my family on Friday night. The three adults all ordered the porterhouse steak; I ordered a medium porterhouse. The adult meals came AFTER the children had finished eating their meals. The steak that was served was NOT porterhouse. It was scotch fillet. The cuts of meat are very different. My steak was very ‘well done’ and not medium. It was tough, chewy and half of the steak was inedible fat. 300g of steak and half was inedible. My father who was present for dinner is a butcher and the female food attendant argued with him that it was porterhouse. The chef refused to leave the kitchen to discuss. I asked for an itemised bill with consideration given to the $39.50 x3 meals that were half inedible and incorrect. That was refused and the female attendant also didn’t provide the requested bill until repeatedly requested. If you want a decent meal with respectful customer service, please...
Read moreFood and drink lovely. Staff friendly, but not proactive enough with drunken yobbos. We went for the trivia night, and had our night ruined by the loud concreting boys. (Yes I know the name of the firm and I won’t be using them anytime soon.). If you want to play the trivia game then sign up. Don’t just make morons of yourselves ruining it for everyone else. These men were loud, obnoxious and very obviously drunk. The language was inappropriate for the crowd attending, and very loud. They should have been outside waiting for their Uber, and not spoiling the night for those of us there for a fun night. Please, Drysdale hotel staff, be a little more proactive with this sort of behaviour. Or you’ll lose customers who can both control themselves, behave and actually hold their booze. It’s been a fun night in the past. Don’t let it be downgraded by...
