I live in the area and the club is in a lovely spot so decided to visit the club on Father's day with my family. We had booked a table for 6 for a Father's day Bbq that the club was running and the staff member I spoke with was more than happy to take the booking on the phone. Our experience was regrettable. We paid $28 per person for a canteen style buffet- I paid $112 for my immediate family of 4. There were three meats on offer, steak in a mushroom sauce, plain beef sausages and skewered chicken breast kebabs, along with a limited selection of salads, a zuchinni slice, low quality (not fresh) chips and bread rolls (the kind you find in dated restaurants that are complimentary). The vegetarian members of our party had very little to choose from. Even so, for everyone including non vegetarians the portion control was very strict. I asked if I could have two sausages (they had only given me one) and the staff member on the food station had to ask her line manager who begrudgingly (no exaggeration) said okay. That left me with two sausages, a handful (again no exaggeration- its as if the staff were instructed to skimp on portions) of chips and a breadroll. It wasn't particularly nice- very plain, and I lost my appetite because I felt I had been duped by the Yacht Club, I can't imagine the profit margin they would have made on each buffet they sold. We did complain and the club manager looked like she was going to give us a full refund until she made a moot point of the fact that we weren't members. The manager said only club members are entitled to a full discount and we shouldn't have even been there, despite the fact that membership was never raised until we decided to make a verbal complaint. They were happy to take our payment for dinner without asking for membership as well. To their limited credit they refunded us 50% of the bill. Any good grace was undone when we were then handed a club membership form... The insinuation being that a benefit of membership is a full refund on food (the manager even admitted that she knew we probably didn't want it- customer service 101...). I won't...
Read moreThe Swan Yacht Club boasts a beautiful riverside location with gorgeous views, creating an idyllic setting for a leisurely lunch. The service was prompt and friendly, and the well-priced drinks added to the relaxed, upscale ambianceâperfect for enjoying time with friends or family.
Unfortunately, as a vegan, I left feeling completely overlooked. While reviewing the menu, it became clear there wasnât a single dedicated vegan dish - except chips. I didnât order any food at all because Iâm so tired of establishments treating chips as an acceptable vegan solution. Itâs uninspired, boring, and frankly insulting in 2025.
When I called ahead, the suggestion to modify the Thai Beef Salad by removing the beef (leaving limp greens and noodles for $27/$29) only reinforced how out-of-touch the menu is. Why should vegans settle for deconstructed dishes or carb-heavy snacks while others enjoy full, flavorful meals? Dining out should be a pleasure, not a compromise and not something to negotiate over.
The yacht clubâs ambiance and service prove they care about quality, but until they prioritize inclusive, creative plant-based options, theyâll alienate a growing demographic. Vegans deserve better than chips or half-hearted...
Read moreVisited the club today at lunch as a guest with several other people There were several members and several guests present .This is the second time in a couple of months we have been there. Very nice location and lovely views and you certainly pay for it based on bar prices and meal prices .Ordered a steak sandwich/burger cost of $25 and whilst not expecting prime Wagyu beef was extremely disappointed with what was served.Basically a strip of minute steak full of sinew and stock standard basic salad components mixed in . I think the restaurant need to lift its game as many other locations (with the waterfront river outlook)would offer far better quality for less menu prices .If i am going to pay that price and my wifes meal and full price bar drinks also i would at least expect more attention from waitpersons such as not having to walk to restaurant entrance to ask for some salt and pepper and not have to walk to bar to ask for some bottled water and a couple of glasses .The group we were in had about 22 people and basically the rest of the restaurant was vacant so if i was in charge i would have been directing more attention to ensure 22 people were happy with meal...
