Zephyr Cafe — Restaurant in Western Australia

Positive: View, wonderful. Also playground abuts. Savoury slice with small salad - delicious!! Key lime pie with ice cream - divine. Pot of tea - ok but only squeezed one cup out. Negative: you chose a table (me out on patio) and go to order at counter. Being alone and not wanting to leave my handbag out of sight (& I need it to pay don't I?) I go straight to queue at counter. Which table asks staffer? I wave in the general direction of patio. Ah - 14 she mumbles. At table 39 I wait. Others sit nearby. They get served l I wait. At short intervals staff members troop past asking if this or that they are carrying is for me - no. None return to remove the table's previous occupant's empty iced coffee glass. Eventually my luch arrives. I notice the ice cream has melted. As I am pouring my tea another staffer stops to inquirer if the coffee they are carrying is for me. No. I'm giggling by this time. I finish slice and flag down staffer who removes melted iceceam and pie and returns with fresh dessert. Staffing was much more professional on earlier visits. From age of staffers I decide cafe is employing high school students during the holidays. Maybe I'll save my next visit...

New owners are ruining what used to be our favourite go to place. Prices up, food quality down. They served my grandson a cold egg and bacon roll as he said he didn't want toasted bread. We expected something as basic as eggs and bacon to be cooked to order, not served straight from the fridge. This was the final insult. Manager told me it was my fault for not wanting toasted bread. Cakes stale, meals mediocre. worst thing is that the owners just don't care. Toilets dirty, owner/manager unfriendly. Only thing going for Zephyrs is the view. Used to be an issue finding a seat here, now there is no problem as customer's simply go elsewhere. Only gave 1 star as I couldn't leave it blank. They don't deserve even 1 star.

After my abysmal review, MUST update. Been coming just for the view and coffee for a while. This morning, walked in to a totally new vibe. Clean, organised, new menu, new management . Efficient, friendly staff. Only had coffee, can't wait to try what looks like good food. Little touches like real glasses, not scratched plastic, table service, hands on management. Keep it up. We love Zephyrs but now for the whole ethos not...

Reprimanded by staff for standing too close to counter when placing order because staff could not hear our orders being made by customers nor could customer hear staff communication when placing order. Though reprimand was very clear. Should have clear signage instead of criticising customers. Also very aware of female waitress repeatedly picking her mini skirt out of her arse whilst going about her job making observant customers query and doubt hygiene standards and integrity of hygiene standards maintenance. Outdoor umbrella broken - once again no signage. Also ants in the plants and parading around in the eating area. Also the speed in which plates were removed whilst others still dining at the table very disconcerting and manner in which it was done was extremely rude. No query as to whether people were ready to have their plate or cups etc removed. No paper towels in the bathroom only unhiygenic blow dryer. Check universal hand washing standards at world health organisation recommendations re paper towels. The most pleasant things were the location...
