Caffe Republic — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Had a pretty bad experience today. Was once my favourite place to eat. Poor service that made us feel quite unwelcome, we weren't sure whether or not to just leave. The bloke behind the counter was surprisingly off putting. It was 9.20am, We had not booked a table, and there was a table reserved for 10am. We wanted to grab a quick coffee and bite and leave. One staff member said no problem. I went to order (9.20am) and a different staff member pretty much jumped on me and said if we sat there our food would come out at the same time the table was needed and we would have to carry our food somewhere else. I said we were happy to eat quickly and leave. He advised the food would definitely take that length of time..... (40mins?) So I didn't know what to do. He said they would give us the next table. Then proceeded to ignore us and other staff started helping other later arrival groups to find tables.

Fortunately a young woman came out and slightly fixed things and apologised, but, am pretty disappointed. Coffee was not up to usual standard. Food was tasty, although almost cold on delivery to table.

It really should not have been so much drama.

The 4+ rating is not reflective of Caffe Republic's current state, perhaps it was true in the past, but it is certainly not the case now. We used to visit this cafe regularly on weekends, after the gym, but lately we have noticed a pattern of progressively poor service. Today's exceptionally poor experience compelled me to write this review. We ordered a trout salad bowl and an acai bowl; we were told that it would be a 30 minute wait and we were fine with that. However, our first plate (the salad bowl) came 47 minutes from the time of payment (according to the automated Apple Pay receipt on my phone), and the acai bowl at 50 minutes. During these 50 minutes, the restaurant was not at 100 capacity, it averaged about 9 out of 14 table capacity. I can understand that the staff may be under pressure, but the food was delivered in an unapologetic and unfriendly manner. The food was fine as usual, but this doesn't matter when the poor service overshadows the entire experience. We have given several chances for Caffe Republic to up their game, and we will not be returning. This restaurant is no doubt popular, but this is no excuse to be complacent, let alone...

We had a fantastic breakfast today 🥚🍳🥞 not only do they have a massive menu….. but also included some LOW CARB and KETO dishes, juice and cabinetrie items ✨💖✨ it’s so hard to find a place for low carb and Keto on the GC and I’m so happy I found one ✨🤩✨ AMAZING!!! I had a freshly made up from scratch low carb juice (finally 🤤) My partner had a dirty chai on almond. Both drinks were delicious 😋 we also had eggs Benni and I didn’t had to skip the bread or get boring spinach with it as they have frickn CAULIFLOWER CHEESE WAFFLES!!!!!!! OMG 💥👊💥 you guys are awesome!!!!!! Plus they have an amazing choice in their cabinet inside… Keto Jaffa slice, Keto Caramel slice (I bought that one as well), Keto cheesecake and lots of low carb and other normal sweet things….. perfect 👌👌👌 everyone we saw and had contact with were super friendly and the service is great. Order inside, they give you a number and choose a table 😊 easy!!! The outside area could use a little love with decoration as it is quite bland but that’s an easy fix I guess 😅 Anyway….. thanks for an amazing breakfast today and we will be back and I will definitely recommend...
