I am sorry to share this review, but thought best to pass on the feedback in hopes you can address this moving forward. Felt not welcome at Camelot....shocked at service/interaction and was so embarrassed we left before even ordering and tasting the food and at a restaurant a few stores down instead.
My mother had been begging me to go and try the amazing pizza her friends had raved about, so I was excited when she booked a table for us at Camelot on the weekend which was a special occasion as it was a celebration for both our birthdays.
We booked a table at 5.30pm on a Saturday as we had 2 kids with us aged 5 and 3.
We were seated inside, and we were the only people inside the restaurant aside from the staff making pizzas (there were two small groups outside at least 10-15metres away).
As my children were giving me my birthday presents they were excited and being jovial, singing happy birthday and making my mother and I feel special as they gave us our gifts.
Almost immediately we were approached by a staff member who requested we keep the noise down as we were being too loud.
We were all utterly shocked at this interaction, we came to the restaurant to have a great time and enjoy the food and were told to quiet down immediately on such a special occasion. We were in no way disrupting other guests from enjoying their meals, as there was no other diners inside at the time and the diners outside were quite far away. I am not sure how the restaurant handles larger adult groups later in the evening after a few drinks singing happy birthday...and why they felt it was appropriate to ask the only diners inside to quiet down when they're obviously celebrating a special occassion with cards/gifts/balloons.
We were so taken back by this request to quiet down, we got up and left before even having a chance to order.
As a result we were unable to taste the amazing food we were so excited for, and instead left with a sour taste in our mouths. I felt very sorry for my mum about this who had been talking the place up for some time.
Lucky Kampung Malay a few shops down was able to accommodate us and with more guests inside we didn't receive a single comment from other diners or staff about our noise levels.
I hope this was an unfortunate one off, and this isn't the norm for Camelot - however felt important to share some details so other diners do not have to experience what we felt leaving the restaurant on Saturday, meer minutes after we...
Read moreBeen a customer for nearly a year and recently moved away from the Benowa region. Drove 35minutes last night to get some pizza and was super excited. Was a REAL SHAME when we were charged the incorrect amount and were SEVERELY misled by the website prices which are incorrect (cheaper than what is advertised in store) which we ordered based off on! Last night, we called Camelot Pizza and were greeted by a manager who we explained the situation to as we had not realised the price mistake until my mother looked at the receipt. Instead of being offered a solution, we were met with argument despite us being very polite. We understand the online prices are a third party problem however the response from the manager did not offer a solution. He eventually resolved that we come in tomorrow (today) and get a $10 refund as we did not want a full one because we did enjoy the pizza. My mother went in today as she was the one who talked to the manager on the phone. Instead of receiving the $10 refund we were promised, we were yet again met with a hostile response which included the quote "well I might just give you ALL the money and shut my doors because I'm going to go broke". We did get our $10 refund but this response is completely unacceptable and downright rude. We will not be returning but do expect a proper apology, mostly towards my mother who was upbraided. This behaviour is utterly disgusting and considerably damaging to...
Read moreSecond and final edit: It's a real shame when businesses don't appreciate the value in having good staff. I will say the pizzas here have been good because they have great toppings and are unique, but we are going to have to go elsewhere from now on.
Unreliable, takes way too long that it is no longer worth the wait (and staff are unable to keep to their word as to how long it'll take) and staff have been frustratingly difficult a number of times over the last several months. My family and friends have also had similar experiences. This place needs a complete overhaul in who they hire or how they train. Customer service is very poor - also, they have been non-attentive, slow, unable to multi-task, poor communication. And who leaves salad under the heat lamp to warm up with the pizzas??? Ugh.
Very disappointing. I really hope things improve because Camelot has been around for such...
