Freshly Ground Coffee — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

We called in to this quaint cafe for a couple of espresso.s we were greeted by a Friendly staff member, as we peruse the cake selection and choose a carrot cake,

we sat outside looking at the park opposite i walked inside to get a glass of water, the waitress showed me to 3 Pub like taps she said Plain.cold.and Sparkling, i pulled 2 sparkling and asked how much, ..that's part of the service i was told.

our espresso.s came and 2 plates with Carrot cake & cream on both, i said to the staff member Sorry i only ordered 1 cake to share, She replied that's what you have Sir,

I was Bowled over, being Octogenarians we dont eat large cakes anymore,

And Paying enough at Other establishments to Buy a Whole cake at their over then top Sizes & prices, I was Pleasantly surprised at how Much we got for a small price.

The espresso was perfect, the Large slice of cake was delicious The friendly smiling service was great.

We had our M/Home getting serviced close by and we went back to this coffee shop 3 times in 2 weeks for 3 reasons.

Friendly service/ Large slices of Cake / Quiet position cafe was Very clean inside and out.

Thanks again for the enjoyable visit.

Now back to Hervey Bay, where if this cafe opened up a shop there We Would be...

I cheerfully walked in, humming to myself and starving so I appreciated the look of the baked goods and the waitress at the till gave me a side eye as I marveled at them, which was fine.

I excitedly ordered a oat mocha and a cinnamon scroll (as labelled) she says “cinnamon roll” and I’m like “oh no thanks a cinnamon scroll” and she goes “yea cinnamon roll” and I said “it says scroll and that’s the one I want please” (pointing to it) she’s like “yea, a cinnamon roll” it says on here roll. I was still cheerful and said “ohh it’s the same thing!, you should change what the customer sees so it matches your till cause that causes confusion” … she didn’t care and said that’s $13.00 please.

Anyways the scroll was grose just melted sugar and cinnamon on a bun and the server who brought it to me said here’s your cinnamon roll 🤦‍♀️ hahaha

Simple things like this change the interaction. Changing two letters on the till or label would have negated this. But they don’t care enough to make such a simple change.

The coffee is great but the attitude of the server ruined it.

Left a bad taste...

The price of this TOASTIE really speaks for itself and the rudeness of the young girl serving me ensured I will never return. I simply asked why is it so expensive compared to the others, she just rudely pointed to the ingredients on the menu rather than answering me. to which I said so it’s a chicken cheese on sourdough & she said “just order one of the cheaper ham and cheese ones”. To avoid feeling awkward or like a cheap skate she made me feel like I ordered it, 2 drinks and a toastie costed $37 somehow. Won’t be back. Had high expectations for a toastie that was lacking in chicken and cheese, it was soggy sourdough with heaps of greens. Shane because the drinks were great.
