The Hangi Pit Coomera — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

So on first entrance the cold and clinical ordering area was almost enough to make me reconsider but what really tipped me over the edge was the smell. Like a grease trap that hasn't been cleaned out in 7 years.

At this moment it was hit and miss but due to plenty of positive reviews we waited in line for at least 15 minutes. The line was not moving, not one customer had been acknowledged or served.

By this stage the wretched stench of what I presume to be food got the better of me and I had to vacate the building before I threw up. My partner continued to line up for another 15 minutes whilst I tried to piece myself back together, hold the contents of my stomach down and remove the words "Blood and Guts Chips" from my mind. My partner couldn't wait any longer and to our horror when we got in the car, just from standing in the line for this period of time, the Hangi Pit had seeped into our clothes and hair.

Revolting - won't even go to the 7/11 next door now for fear of the Hangi Pit latching...

Awesome food, found the place by chance and got the hangi dinner and tried fry bread for the first time. The hangi was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, tasty down to earth tucker! The frybread was great too.

I got the chance to go back a week or two later and actually went a bit out of my way to go there and get 2 hangi dinners, one for lunch and one for dinner that night. And i got a 6pack of fry bread. They turn to rocks in the fridge, but air frying them returns them to soft fluffy breads and they're even a bit better when dark and crispy on the outside. Had a couple with butter and raspberry conserve, YUM! and the rest mopped up the hangi juices!

The style of the hangi pit is basic but homely and feels like a corner store take away more than a restaurant. They have a selection of NZ drinks to go with the food like l&p and it seemed like a nostalgic hit with islanders.

I look forward to going back any chance i get and i recommend it to anyone that likes a good...

Absolutely shocking service! Went in to get fish n chips and I was waiting for an hour, never left the store, I noticed that people who came in after me were getting their orders before me. When I asked the girl on the counter when my order was coming, as others after me had gotten their orders, she said mine was being wrapped. I waited another 10 minutes and decided it wasn't coming so I asked for a refund. The girl looked at me and took ages to process the refund and didn't even ask me why i wanted a refund. As she gave me my refund I said to her my order was never coming was it and she just looked at me then said we are busy. Well no they weren't as everyone else was getting their orders. A friendly sorry and acknowledgement that my order must've been missed would've been appreciated. The worst service ever from that girl on last night. Pull your socks up Hangi Pit, clean up the place...
