Extremely disappointed in the Southern Star Goulburn.
A beautiful place to hold a reception but as for the service, it was absolutely appalling.
I would not recommend the Southern Star to anyone who is holding a large catered venue.
After booking the Southern Star for my Wedding Reception I had three wedding planners tell me that they would not work with the owner of the Southern Star. I was unsure on why as I found Ravi the owner easy to deal with so far.
Soon to find out what everyone had been warning me about.
The waitresses at the Southern Star serving at my wedding reception were all young teens from the ages of 13 to 15 completing work experience. Young teens that had absolutely no experience nor no idea on what they were doing. The way that these Young teens were worked and spoken to by the owner and his daughter in front of my guest was absolutely disgusting.
The presentation of the food was not desirable to the eye at all and majority of the food was COLD, not warm, cold.
There was 1 Gentleman serving at the bar that was incapable serving the drinks due to either experience or his age.
We chose the premium package and placed $5,000 dollars on the bar tab for Beer, Wine, spirits for bridal table and immediately family (names were listed) and soft drink.
The spirts that should have been served with coke were served with Pepsi and tasted horrible as there was no Coke and all the soft drinks were cheap brands and tasted flat.
My Guest were being charged on and off all night for their Beer and Wine and told there was no tab. Told they could only pay cash and as most of them had no cash they were taken into the restaurant to pay via eftpos because the one at the bar was apparently broken. They were also told to go over the road to the atm and get cash out if they wanted to purchase any more drinks.
I can to my attention by quite a few guests as they were quite annoyed. I approached Ravi about this and he became abusive, raising his voice and would not listen just telling me I was a liar and pointing his finger in my face and walked away. 9:00pm I was told there was only $500 left on the tab. We questioned him as we knew the tab couldn’t of been over as most people were charged all night, plus the younger generation of guests were buying their own as they were drinking spirits. Soon came to find out that the bar man had been marking all purchased drinks from each guest onto the bar tab all night. This was witnessed by all family and friends.
Ravi refused to acknowledge the problems and told me to prove it, I took a few of my guest phone up to him with their banking to show him all the charges from the Southern Star for $4.50 to $7.50, plus a few of my guest came up to tell him what was actually happening and that he was charging and marking on the tab sheet purchased drinks. Ravi did not want a part of it nor would believe it and threatened to close.
We didn’t not want our guest to have a bad time or to be paying for their own drinks so we ask to put more money on the bar which Ravi would not allow. We argued and he ended up letting us put a max of $500 on the tab which we were then notified that this was used in 40minutes.
I am so disappointed and upset with the services we received from the Southern Star and am finding out I am not the only person who has had this experience there. This place was not worth the $14,000 thousand dollars that was spent. I would not recommend the Southern Star to anyone.

I don’t even understand how people rate but to me in the first instance itself they are not willing to serve or to take the order, than where can you rate the food or any other thing.
After reading the reviews on google, thought of trying and I called up restaurant at 8:20pm asking them if I can order for takeaway and they are saying they are going to close in 10 mins and I told them I will take less than 8 mins to arrive if that okay? Hung up and called them again hung up again. If you people are so unwilling to serve a customer than what is the point you having a restaurant. I recommend you to open scrap business so you don’t have to deal with customer service I guess.

Unfortunately I had a migraine so I took a bottle of water, I immediately informed Sim (the waitress) that I was dehydrated and needed to bring my own bottle of water. I have personally run Restaurants for twenty years, and I know that normally you should not bring your own drinks. Sim's father told her to tell me that I had to pay corkage on the water.
